The German "Die Welt" destroys all claims of Ukraine's independence in its decision-making:

"US President Biden and the leaders of Britain, France and Germany will decide when to start negotiations to end the war in Ukraine."

Basically, there is nothing new for me, except that "Die Welt" writes about the 'bleak prospects for Ukraine' in these negotiations. This seems to be the stage of accepting the inevitable.

The entire Eurozone is in recession.

The eurozone entered into a technical recession at the start of the year, shrinking by 0.1 percent for a second consecutive quarter, figures from the EU's statistic agency showed Thursday.

Eurostat revised down an earlier forecast that had predicted slight growth, after economic powerhouse Germany said last month it had fallen into recession.

The worse-than-expected figures come as inflation and higher interest rates have curbed demand in Europe's largest economy.

Eurostat cut its earlier estimate of 0 percent growth in the final quarter of 2022 and 0.1 percent growth in the first quarter of 2023 to 0.1 percent contractions in both periods.

Two consecutive quarters of shrinking gross domestic product is the threshold for a technical recession.

The bad news comes after a painful year for European economies as surging energy prices sparked by Russia's war on Ukraine sent inflation spiralling.

The European Central Bank has responded by hiking its key rates by 3.75 percentage points since embarking on an unprecedented campaign of monetary tightening in July last year.

The latest figures cast doubt over more optimistic predictions for the whole 2023.

Charlotte de Montpellier, an economist at ING Bank, predicted that the figure for 2023 would only reach 0.5 percent.

"Since the spring, all the data has been bad", she told AFP, pointing in particular to German industrial production and new orders.

"The European economy is in a phase of stagnation and has had difficulty getting through the winter because of the energy shock."

Even though gas and oil prices have fallen in recent months, last year's surge in prices has had a major impact on household confidence and forced a reduction in consumption.

Capital Economics said in a note it thinks "GDP is likely to contract again in Q2 (the second quarter) as the effects of monetary policy tightening continue to feed through".

"Domestic demand has been hit hard by the combination of inflation and rising interest rates," it said.

And the "solution" to the above problem has been found - the EU's 11 sanctions package:

They aren’t accepting the inevitable. If the previous rumors from western mainstream media is to be believed. They are proposing terms that the West finds politically acceptable. Note that it has zero consultation with the Russians if they will agree. Such things as security guarantees and another promise to not allow Ukraine into NATO for a little while longer. Conditions the Russians no longer find acceptable anymore.

caucasion to play Chengis Khan
They already did that with John Wayne. White people have been appropriating characters from other races and casted them as white long before the woke stuff began. In fact, they still continue to do that - Ghost in the Shell, upcoming Three Body Problem adaptation by Netflix, etc. Mind you, there is/was no shortage of potential Asian actors, one of the early sex symbols was actually a Japanese man Sessue Hayakawa and white men got extremely angry & insecure about that.

As for the Little Mermaid, it is just a bad movie, that's it. No need to dig deeper.

That reminds me of when Netflix made an historical documentary that Cleopatra was black African women and Egyptians getting mad over it. The social justice warrior were extremely furious against the backlash on social media for black washing it.

Yeah it's burning like crazy in the north here. It's so dry, more or less no rain this sring and didn't get a lot of snow this winter in these region. Got some windthrow during the spring and cannot clear up the wood trails on the land because of the risk to put everything ablaze. Smoking NewYork is the least of our problems.

White Americans think they can "fix" the decades of discriminative policies that whitewashed many movies, TV shows, etc. and typecasted minorities into stereotypical roles by doing the same but in reverse. This just shows that they did not learn anything and instead of actually creating new stories with e.g. Black people in mind (which Black panther did and, surprise-surprise, it did well), they just go the easy way.

Wildfires in North America coming like 3-4 months earlier. I saw a graph on a Canadian news website. Usually it starts picking up in late July but wildfires in May has already matched the quantity of burnt hectares during previous seasons of July/August levels. Summer smoke is going to be wild this year.

What's the big deal anyway? Must China patronize Hollywood movies that are popular in their home turf to avoid being labeled as uncouth and or racist? I don't see the same treatment for any movies that comes out of China getting the same treatment. In fact, it's the polar opposite. These stupid western countries want to spit, punch, heckle, call China names while at the same time expect China to be amenable to their demands, kowtow to their racist opinions, accept their cultural beliefs and adopt hedonistic lifestyle. Holy moly, what a fascistic thinking group of people.
It is just a bad movie. A remake with identity politics is not interesting.
