We want 4 kids. We signed over 10 surrogates for them all to be checked so we can pick the best ones. Some failed and we had to reject them after signing. Our first baby is 6 months into the pregnancy with her surrogate mom. We will sign more. I never spent money lavishly in my life before. This is it.

Well bro not all, my wife and I are part of overseas Chinese that are fully Westernized and yet our generation preferred marrying our own kind. You imposed sanctions. You confiscated Russian assets. You enacted a financial freeze. Do you expect Russia to take your useless Euro and give you free gas. What Russia is going to do with all those useless Euro? Beside, Russia isn't going to accumulate more Euro now and later got its Euro assets confiscated again. Russia isn't a moron.

Again, don't overthink about this. Russia would eventually find buyers for its gas as multiple pipelines are in the planning state to deliver Russian gas to China. As for EU, it would take a few years but eventually it would find a way to import sufficient gas and other energy imports from other sources, maybe EU might need to pay a little more but that is a small price to pay.

It is actually a genius form of governance. If you have no expectations for government performance, as long as they don’t do anything outrageously bad they will be tolerated, receiving the governance equivalent of participation rewards. In other words, the only way is up if your expectation is set low.
