Kind of like how people group Africans into one group, even in casual conversation African countries are rarely mentioned. I always laugh at the silliness of it. A Black American artist recent went on social media to complain that modeling agencies like to hire models who look "really African". He was dragged for that comment, what he was meant was that these modelling agencies like the East African look specifically a sub group of Nilotic peoples from South Sudan. Folks think that just because people from the Horn (Ethiopian, Somalis, etc.) look different to Bantus then they must be "mixed", I correct that fallacy and tell them they are native Africans, as if the second largest continent can't be as diverse as everywhere else.
