I just realized that deep state is deeply insecure and would resort to low blows when the tough gets going.

Can’t beat Huawei in 5G? Sanction the hell out of them and slander them as a major security risk.

Can’t beat Trump in a fair election? Muzzle him on Twitter and throw sex scandal lawsuits at him until his campaign is derailed.

G-7 to help emerging economies move up supply chains for EVs, solar panels

Partnership with World Bank intended to develop manufacturing, cutting reliance on China

TOKYO -- The Group of Seven rich nations is considering a partnership with the World Bank to build more resilient supply chains for clean-energy technology by providing funding and other support to emerging markets, Nikkei has learned. The G-7 aims to lift these countries beyond resource extraction into the more profitable business of manufacturing products like electric vehicles and solar panels, by helping them secure the needed technology and infrastructure funding.

The G-7 is considering contributing capital to the World Bank for the effort. The hope is to spur more diversified supply chains, reducing the need to rely on China for strategically important products as the global decarbonization push accelerates. The proposal will be made at a meeting of G-7 finance ministers and central bankers in Japan starting Thursday, with the goal of reaching an agreement at next week's leaders summit in Hiroshima. The specifics would be hammered out within the year.

G-7 host Japan has invited outside countries including India and Indonesia to both meetings, where the proposal will be presented as a new avenue to support developing countries, such as resource-rich African nations. Rich nations will provide technical support and training. G-7 finance ministers and central bankers affirmed their intent to "support low- and middle-income countries to play bigger roles in supply chains" at their previous meeting last month in Washington.

-Sounds like a...debt trap.

-That probably won't work that easy, the reason because China developed so vast clean energy industry is because is also the biggest consumer of clean energy technology so there is an incentive for China to invest in this technologies. Also China already made huge investment modernizing their infrastructure, roads, healthcare and so on, now with less investment needed in that area they are investing now in this new technologies in which by the way as I said they are the biggest consumer in the world. I don't see this huge consumption of clean energy products in most of the world, especially in poorer countries, maybe because, you see, clean energy is not a necessity in our world, energy is, "clean energy" is not, for now most countries are perfectly fine with their old oil-gas powered infrastructure and vehicles, most poorer countries have to deal with more critical infrastructure like roads, education and healthcare. So they will probably want the investment going to areas that are more critical, rather to a technology that many would consider good to have but not a most have. For example if China infrastructure lacked I don't think they would have invested so much in clean energy they would have put more money in civil projects.

-Hear me now quote me later, the biggest pusher of "clean energy" in low-middle income countries will be probably when Chinese companies go there with their tools, with their money, their supply chain and expand their manufacturing-supply chain facilities to make EVs, batteries, electricity production devices and so on in those countries. For example CETC already cover the entire production of solar energy products from Ingot to the Solar panel itself probably at a way cheaper price.

Y’know these caucasians could use that freedom and Christianity to innovate better, as their imperialist forefathers told the Qing.

America now has government PSAs on how to survive mass shootings.

The single biggest role of government is protection and law and order, even feudal lords understood this. When feudal lords abandon their responsibilities to their vassals and start killing and raping at will or allowing their pet ethnic group to rape and kill others at will, any duties owed to that lord are rendered null and void.

No normal nation would have to do something like this. A further sign that the USA is collapsing as we speak. Sooner or later will come a time when these elites will have no choice but to have to address this situation but no matter the choice, the trust is broken so much that nothing they do now will even come close to addressing this elephant in the room. The words amendments freedom and democracy right now is more of a problem rather then something worth defending because people seem to cling onto those words as though it’s gospel rather then the obvious solution in the room. Any idiot that mentions the words ‘thoughts and prayer’ should go take a jump because this has been repeated so often that it has no meaning anymore. Didn’t God explain the most basic tenant ‘thou shall not kill’ is something these so called God fearing people should know from the beginning. Hence any one from that nation that believes that God will rapture them all into the clouds in the first sign of trouble against China or Russia really needs a good mirror and a long look to see just who is responsible from driving the nation down such a path to begin with

Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the most likely first targets of a radical new EU proposal to stop Russia busting sanctions by importing the high-tech components required to wage war through its neighbors.

The EU is moving toward its 11th package of sanctions against Russia to try to sap President Vladimir Putin's military machine and, for the first time, its proposal will include counter-measures against countries helping Moscow dodge Brussels' trade embargo. China and Turkey are the nations most often credited with throwing Russia an economic lifeline — but EU diplomats cautioned that Ankara and Beijing were not their immediate targets, and that measures against such significant geostrategic trade partners risked backfiring.

Instead, three EU diplomats said the hope was that the EU's impending proposals on sanctions circumvention would encourage Central Asian states to fall into line. The full 11th sanctions package could be unveiled as early as Tuesday, when European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visits Kyiv to mark Europe Day.

EU sanctions envoy David O’Sullivan has traveled to Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in recent weeks in a bid to gauge the scale of sanctions circumvention.

The central plank of this new EU measure would be to restrict European companies from selling sensitive goods to one of Russia's neighbors if there were circumvention. The sanctions would first list sensitive products in terms of circumvention, then the countries where they are being shipped.

But that doesn’t mean the anti-circumvention measures will win a quick sign-off.

Several EU countries fear Brussels risks opening a Pandora’s box with the proposal. By establishing the principle that countries who breach EU sanctions, deliberately or not, could be targeted, the move opens up the possibility that other countries such as Turkey or China could be next in the firing line.

One EU diplomat seeking a tougher line on the bigger targets said he was "hoping for a loaded gun on the table, but right now the gun isn't even loaded."

The U.S. has been pushing Brussels to take a more hawkish line on China but the EU is reluctant to further alienate Beijing.

Similarly, confronting Turkey is also seen as a major political risk, given the volatility of Turkish politics as it approaches this weekend’s election, and Ankara’s leverage when it comes to issues like migration, given that Turkey has long acted as a buffer between the EU and the Middle East.

While the Commission believes the threat of punishing Central Asian countries will be enough of an economic stick to change their behavior, one diplomat said Europe “should be sure we are ready to follow through” with a threat before making it. Another diplomat said Brussels needs to find a balance between cracking down on sanction circumvention and maintaining economic ties with key trading partners such as Turkey or China.

Beijing on Monday was already adamantly opposed to a separate EU measure in the 11th sanctions package, which targets seven Chinese companies suspected of sending prohibited goods to Russia either directly or through intermediaries. This direct targeting of the seven companies is distinct from the proposed broader circumvention measure to draw up specific lists of products that should not be sold from Europe to companies in countries neighboring Russia, which has not yet been approved.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin warned the EU not to go ahead. “We urge the EU not to go on this wrong path, otherwise China will take firm actions to safeguard our legitimate and lawful interests,” he said.

But the Commission is confident that the circumvention package gives EU countries enough wiggle-room to apply the brakes if a proposed measure is seen as too politically sensitive.

Under the proposal, every decision to add a product or country needs to be approved by all 27 EU capitals.

This may help to get EU countries on board with the politically sensitive new idea; at the same time, it makes the procedure very burdensome, giving every capital a potential veto power.

Focusing minds has been the looming G7 summit in Japan later this month, where the group of the world’s strongest economies are expected to focus on strengthening sanctions on Russia and combatting circumvention.

Yet another VIRTUE SIGNALING ENDEAVOR all in the shallow and vain attempt to outcompete China in these key areas. Has anyone here can tell me what has happened to BUILD BACK BETTER WORLD? What about the EU led proposal excitedly announced by Ms. Von der Lyen 2 years ago?

The collective west is simply doing PUBLICITY STUNTS nothing more.

P&W's GTFs seem to be causing havok across the board. Iraqi Airways has had it's A220s grounded due to fan casing deterioration and a not-insignificant amount of EgyptAir, SWISS and Air Baltic are grounded by the supply chain for engine parts falling short (to the extent that the All-A220 fleet strategy for Air Baltic is in the gutter - they're having to wet lease other aircraft to fill the shortfall)

Every engine OEM appears to be struggling to build a durable offering at the moment. GE and RR have both long had issues with the LEAP, Trent 1000 etc. Fingers crossed that the engineering of the CJ-1000A is good, it could be an excellent 'meritocratic' argument for foreign C919 certification
Aviation is badly impacted post covid and this irritation is now very public. mentioning high life cycle cost. I am sure UAE have very good insight into Europe demographics.

, a government official exclusively told Breaking Defense.

“We recently terminated a contract with Airbus Helicopters to purchase H225 helicopters. We found it difficult to continue the contract due to the high lifecycle cost, the limitations in adapting to modular designs of future mission requirements, and the complex technical proposal,” Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, defense and security industry affairs sector chief for the Tawazun council, said in a May 8 interview.

The Tawazun council is the UAE’s independent government entity that works closely with the Ministry of Defense and security agencies in the United Arab Emirates, and it is assigned, among other roles, the research and development as well as technological innovation side of the sector.
