I think Toronto and Vancouver are the two largest Canadian cities. Both will have ethnic Chinese mayors, both who had won and who will win in landslides.

Speaking of Canadian politics. Are fellow Canadian forum members alarmed at the tone of the Libs and Cons? The bipartisan hatred of Chinese has basically spread from the US into Canada. The country has always been America-lite but now it seems like they're trying to emulate the US word-for-word.

Yea that's why I joined this forum, to build connections so later I can (secure) message/radio the "hobbyists" here when they open the internment camps in Canada. Richmond and Markham will probably be used as the "Chinese Ghetto".

Because what is "Asian American identity?" About the only thing I could think of is a shared love for boba tea. So yeah, it doesn't exist.

When Eastern and Southern European immigrants were forced to assimilate into the Anglo identity, there was not much of a barrier since Anglo identity is still European. Asians will never be accepted into the Anglo identity and the Asian American identity is skin deep and perhaps more tragically never had/will never be allowed to develop, so every one just identifies based on ancestral country. And no surprise, in addition to relearning the languages, getting in touch with the motherland for some has meant adopting the current prejudices. So now you have American Born Koreans hating Chinese people, Indians hating Pakistanis, Vietnamese hating Cambodians, and everybody just looking down on Filipinos. Really, its a mess.

Truth about western assimilation is they never intended for accepting new culture. In the past they disliked Italian, Irish, Jewish, German, Polish, Russian, but these people looked close enough they failed to identify them. Black people cannot do the same, neither do Asians. This is why skin color matters. Ideally they want to discriminate all outsiders, but they cannot identify white people trying hard to integrate, so they settle for colored people.
