There was one assumption at the heart of all of this policy: that markets always allocate capital productively and efficiently—no matter what our competitors did, no matter how big our shared challenges grew, and no matter how many guardrails we took down.

Now, no one—certainly not me—is discounting the power of markets. But in the name of oversimplified market efficiency, entire supply chains of strategic goods—along with the industries and jobs that made them—moved overseas. And the postulate that deep trade liberalization would help America export goods, not jobs and capacity, was a promise made but not kept.

Another embedded assumption was that the type of growth did not matter. All growth was good growth. So, various reforms combined and came together to privilege some sectors of the economy, like finance, while other essential sectors, like semiconductors and infrastructure, atrophied. Our industrial capacity—which is crucial to any country’s ability to continue to innovate—took a real hit.

The shocks of a global financial crisis and a global pandemic laid bare the limits of these prevailing assumptions.

They gonna do Capitalism with American Characteristics now?

The new guidelines focus on military coordination across land, sea, air, space and cyberspace, while the administration will also transfer three C-130 aircraft and look to send additional patrol vessels.

I bet you those C-130 are surplus aircraft and a flying coffin and three only three, Yup Filipino soldiers lives are cheap and I said before those US promises and pledges are full of shit and there will be regrets and recrimination and guess who will bear the brunt of those anger.

KMT slightly leading, basically neck to neck race. Seems to me that DPP has closed its gap with the frontrunners KMT from previous polls

If the DPP wins the next election, MSS has failed in its job. When intelligence agencies fail to do its job, war becomes likely. If Russian intelligence agencies did their job in the last decade, the Ukraine war could have been avoided.

Election interference has never been part of the job of the MSS. You are thinking of the CIA/NED.

As for Ukraine, it’s a conveniently mine-holed fact that when Zelensky ran for President, he did so and won on a platform of peace with Russian and reconciliation with the Donbas. That was the mandate he was given and the fact he did a 180 as soon as he got into office with zero consequences is an indictment of the utter failure of modern western liberal ‘democracy’, where the voters are literally played for fools and brainwashed into just accepting that massive reming as the best they can ever hope for.

If the DPP wins again, I see war where Chinese people needlessly die for the agenda of the American empire. Why not get the MSS to do everything in their power to prevent this war before it reaches that stage.

Because this is a game between China and America. What the people living in Taiwan wants and chose are frankly irrelevant and entirely ignorable at this point.

Even if a pro-reunification candidate wins with a 99% majority, the CIA will just assassinate him/her and stage a coup or similar other crisis to justify direct military intervention to stop peaceful reunification.

These 'Pino Coast Guard boats were gifted from Japan, and early the 2000s, the Japanese used them to ram our fishing boats around the Diaoyu. Today they're pretty useless, around the Diaoyu or in the SC Sea.
The crew probably got invited for dinner at the Chinese ship cafeteria. Mens need to eat you know and good food too.
