Russia can barely survive? it generated $333b trade surplus when its major markets completely cut off. it will be able to utilize Boeing/Airbus upto 7 years before it can transition over to wholly Russian fleet. same will happen with semiconductors.
it will develop planes that can take into account aerospace detour like design flexibility for more range and higher cruising speed for its category. i am sure it can maintain high disposable income even with 100% western sanctions for the rest of its life. that disposable income is reflected on buying tickets indirect transit routes.

That was a compliment. To survive at all a tech war with the US means to be able to replace every tech that the collective West ever made in history in a time short enough to prevent a collapse or to be left back into some third world country. It must be done without input from Western basic science and without market support from the West. It is a magnanimous feat that I say only Russia and China can complete. I believe that the Russian people, with their excellent track record in engineering, can do this with just 140M people, but I think that with its limited population and market power, it can make these substitutes only to satisfactory use, perhaps not to the best of the world's standards. That is why I say to barely survive. China, on the other hand, has 1.4B people so with that market power, it has the financial ability to push its tech to the world's top and actually defeat a Western tech war. No other nation on earth has a chance to survive such a challenge. It was my intent to compliment Russia, not to insult it.

I love Russia and I reserve the use of that word very carefully. I see it as a country of my brothers. Vladimir Putin's story of ascension to power from a language student who volunteered to serve in the KGB to the beloved leader of Russia is an inspiration to all patriots; outside of China, I respect no one more than him. Russia is courageous to fight the combined efforts of the entire West seemingly alone. I wish only the best for it, to wake up from its hibernation and sweep through every inch of the Ukraine humiliating every American and European who ever dreamed to defeat Russia there. Show the world why Russians are called the Combat Race. I hope China and Russia can cooperate on every core technology leaving the West in the dust. The better Russia does, the happier I am. So don't take offense to my comment.

Like most countries the same size, Vietnam lacks the internal market to really incubate national champions, so it needs a developed patron market. For Korea and Japan, that was the US. But the US doesn’t trust Vietnam since it’s not a vassal.

China could play this role for Vietnam maybe in 10-20 years. Only after it’s built up its own domestic champions already though.
Chinese economy already is outsourcing much to Vietnam, and Chinese culture is slowly getting more popular.

Because each year brings more and more worthy Nobel peace prize candidates, I suggest expanding the prize and create different categories that can better represent all the candidates.

Instead of 1 peace prize, we should have:
1. Nobel prize of martial peace: this prize will be awarded to an exceptional commander and/or politician of NATO, that have served to expand the realm and/or defeat the foes of America.

2. Nobel prize of collaboration: this prize will be awarded to a native which have helped America using the resources of his country in an exceptional way.

3. Nobel prize of truth: this prize will be awarded to a writer/journalist/filmmaker that has done the best job at delivering the American party line to domestic as well as global audiences.

With this reformed Nobel peace prize, there won't be a deadlock anymore between several worthy candidates.

Claiming that bringing Japan and SK together would stabilize relationship with China is a hint that they want to gang up against China.

That is impossible.

They do not know how small South Korea really is.

Look at us Cantonese. How many of us are there really? Maybe if we counted everyone in China and outside of it, there probably is about 100 to 120 million Cantonese in this world. If that figure is a little high, there probably still is 80 to 100 million going yak yak yak, ai ya! yak yak yak some more.

How many South Koreans in the entire world?

And we Cantonese are a minority in China!

South Korea and Japan as a gang with the Americans against China, that is a total joke. Where's their damn army? They don't got the numbers. They don't even have hypersonic weapons.

All that is going to happen is relatively simple. Ignore China interests, and China will ignore yours in turn.

Japan's market for South Korean products is trivially small. This is not about to change just because you want Koreans to start worshipping at Yasukuni shrine.

Yeah, I mean, I don't get it.

It has been kind of obvious, like the past 20 to 30 years, that Korea and Japan kind of sell the same types of goods.

So Korea and Japan working closer together, will yield them what exactly? When competitors work together, what do they get? Usually that is call collusion. But that does not even seem to be the case here.

Call this the American disease. Lack of a plan.

US has attempted to coerce South Korea to join the anti-China alliance. I am not worried about it but won't rule out another THAAD feud.
