Vietnam’s issue is they tried to suck up to West too much. They don’t have the balls to do something like the Great Firewall. The issue is that now it’s not possible because 1. their people are too addicted to Facebook (and other western stuff in general) and 2. the west actually doesn’t need them because of China and other competitors
Like most countries the same size, Vietnam lacks the internal market to really incubate national champions, so it needs a developed patron market. For Korea and Japan, that was the US. But the US doesn’t trust Vietnam since it’s not a vassal.

China could play this role for Vietnam maybe in 10-20 years. Only after it’s built up its own domestic champions already though.

Too late for them to cut off the Anglo poison. At the same time, China has enough users to sustain a fully domestic internet ecosystem, Vietnam does not and never will.

FED ruined global economy by its reckless printing and 0% interest rates followed by 180 degree turn to historic interest rate hikes and QT.

Sometimes I think all of this was a deliberate attempt to create a crisis in emerging markets to kill Chinese export growth.

SK President is not only a traitor but also an idiot. Such appeasement is not only humiliated but an insult and arguing that such appeasement would strengthen trade relationship with Japan is just off the mark. Claiming that bringing Japan and SK together would stabilize relationship with China is a hint that they want to gang up against China.

Most of the Chinese people who migrated to Malaysia did so during the 19th century when the Qing Dynasty is in its waning decades - And certainly way before the SeeSeePee ever became a thing. This is pretty much the same for overseas Chinese living across the rest of Southeast Asia today.

Yup and why? Mostly because hardship due to war and plundering waged by western imperialism on China.

Surprisingly, South Korean government hasn't withdrawn the proposal to increase weekly working hours. It is just very depressive being South Korean workers. NO wonder South Korea's fertility is the world lowest.

NO wonder required for a myth. You have no correlation between working hours and fertility rate. South Korea's fertility rate fell most sharply during the last administration that reduced working hours the most radically.

Sure, working long hours and don't have days off should help fertility.

Reducing working hours without reducing the stress and pressure won't help that much on fertility. Most of South Koreans I knew of have informed me when they were young they go to school for much longer hours than other countries and tutoring would add a few more hours. Entering top South Korean universities would pretty much define one's future. Getting into those one of chaebols is a must. South Korea has an ultra-compeitive environment that most people are stressed out and many want to leave.

I don't know about their opinions on their country's foreign policy but I genuinely wonder how South Korean young men who made him win feel about him being about to make them work for 80.5 hours per week.
