China buys fewer Korean goods amid waning perception: report
The number of Chinese consumers who bought Korean products plummeted last year amid China's falling perception of Korea-made commodities, according to a survey conducted by the Korea International Trade Association.
The survey, released Sunday, found that the percentage of Chinese consumers who responded that they bought Korean products at least once over the past five years fell to 43.1 percent from 78.7 percent in 2020.
During the same period, no changes in consumption were found among top-selling products, including beauty and fashion products, as well as food.
The plunge in purchases appears to follow the waning perception of Korea-made goods in China. In the survey, 54.5 percent of the respondents selected the option “positive” when asked about how they think of Korea-made goods, while 10 percent of them selected the “negative” option.

Compared to a 2020 survey, people who responded positively to Korean goods declined by 5 percentage points, while those who responded negatively increased by 6.6 percentage points
As for the reasons given for not purchasing Korean products, they cited negative consumer reviews (35.9 percent), Korea’s national image (34.6 percent) and low product competitiveness (33.6 percent).

Complaints about product quality, after-sales services and high pricing also greatly increased compared to the pre-pandemic period, the survey found

What's the Philippines defense contribution on this Japanese led proposed trilateral defense proposal? With what money?

Not money. Their main contribution is bodies and lives to bleed for the Japanese and American war monger elites. The Americans got their Ukraine to bleed for them with the local backing of Poland for a proxy war with Russia. They are now scouring around Asia for willing volunteers to fight China and bleed for America. Taiwan is getting too risky, so the Americans are turning to the Philippines for a Plan B. Japan's role is to become the local backer, like Poland in Eastern Europe.

The Philippines better wake up from this dream of using the US and friends to fight China over some shoals. There won't be any American and Japanese solidarity for them. The Philippines' role is to shed blood for the US and Japan, while they carry out their 'Bleed China' plan. Filipinos must realize that it is never worth it to sacrifice lives for the American and Japanese warmonger elites.

I remembered when Zelensky was first elected, he campaigned as the more 'pro-Russian' politician in Ukraine. Then we see what he hd become today. Marcos Jr. is appearing to follow in Zelensky's footsteps. I just hope that Marcos Jr. is absolutely not the same case.

Phillipines is true imperial colony. Poor, third world, low IQ and heavily indoctrinated with US propaganda. Add to that their (supposed) misgivings against China and their cousins and aunts working in the west as soldiers, cooks, maids and babysitters. As expected the empire comes calling now to allow more bases, more soldiers, more submission in order to secure brownie points from Uncle Sam and of course some cash to the elites. If it leads to a confrontation, I want that to be China's "Shock and awe" moment. Constant aerial and naval bombardment for 72 hours on all those islands they call Pag Asa. Show them how a superpower fights. It will shatter all their myths and hubris of their folk being superior in fighting stock to the Chinese (lol). Should also hit all their anti-ship missile stockpiles on the mainland too if they decide to bring them out to frontlines, I've heard they purchased some BrahMos from India.

Blinken has warned the Chinese not to supply arms to Russia.

Lately, more Chinese vessels are seen around the areas where China and the Philippines have a dispute.

Seems like a potential and simple trade.

If the Chinese were to reclaim more islands with the dredging, there should be no problem. The Philippines will not be able to psychically stop it, neither anyone in the region.

Will the Americans come to stop the Chinese dredging if it comes to that, and start a military battle? Would the Chinese even care?

Will the Chinese start the dredging? We probably will find out soon.

A two front war, with the second front starting over this, haha! Strategic geniuses!

and took the co-current British Boer War concentration camp idea and refined it into death camps that inspired a certain German Austrian politician. (Hitler’s American Model, The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law; by Whitman, James Q. and How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States; By: Immerwahr, Daniel).

Hoping to see protests in the Philippines to show that some people haven't forgotten what the US did to them.

Then there was what happened during the Moros rebellion:

The Chinese government has proposed a defense budget of 1.55 trillion yuan ($225 billion) for the 2023 fiscal year, a 7.2-percent year-on-year increase, according to a draft budget report submitted to the national legislature on Sunday morning.

The figures were included in the report prepared by the Ministry of Finance and distributed at the opening meeting of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

If approved by lawmakers, the proposed expenditure will maintain single-digit growth for an eighth consecutive year.

At the NPC session last year, the Chinese government proposed a defense budget of 1.45 trillion yuan for the 2022 fiscal year, a 7.1-percent year-on-year increase. The 2021 defense budget was proposed at 1.35 trillion yuan, raised by 6.8 percent.

The annual Government Work Report, released at Sunday's opening meeting, said that China's national defense system and the armed forces have made remarkable achievements since last year and the military has been effectively safeguarding the national sovereignty, security and interests.

The work report noted that the military will continue making all-out efforts to follow the Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military and the Party's military strategies in the new era, focus on the goals for the PLA to accomplish by its centenary in 2027, and fulfill tasks given by the Party and the people.

Speaking at a news conference in Beijing on Saturday, Wang Chao, the spokesperson for the first session of the 14th NPC, said that defense spending is determined based on overall consideration of the need for defense ability and the economic development level, which is a common practice across the world.

"The increase in defense spending is needed for meeting the complex security challenges and for China to fulfill its responsibilities as a major country. China's defense spending, as a share of GDP, has stayed basically stable for many years and it is lower than the world average. An increase is appropriate and reasonable."

"China's future is closely intertwined with that of the entire world. China's military modernization will not be a threat to any country. On the contrary, it will only be positive for safeguarding regional stability and world peace," the spokesman said when answering a question on China's defense budget.

Song Zhongping, a military affairs commentator and retired officer from the PLA, said China has maintained a moderate increase in its defense expenditure for many years and the nation does not seek to get involved in arms races with other countries.

"Despite the fact that the United States, some European countries and our neighbor, Japan, have tremendously hiked their military budget, China has refrained from sharpely raising its own budget though it is fully capable of doing so," he said. "Our country is not like the US and Japan that keep going after military superiority. That is not what we want. China wants a balance in economic development and defense capability."

The world's largest spender on military affairs is the United States. Its defense budget for the fiscal year 2023 was $858 billion, an 11.7-percent year-on-year hike. A large proportion in the military bill will go to Ukraine and China's Taiwan to strengthen their armed forces, US media reported.

In Japan, a record defense budget of 6.8 trillion yen ($51 billion) for fiscal year 2023 has been recently approved by law makers, highlighting an astonishing 26-percent annual increase.

to revoke China's "Most Favored Nation" trade status, implement a four-year plan to phase out imports from China of "essential" goods and to gain "total independence" from China.

I won't speak to the specifics of what this means or if it is even plausible, because I think the more important point is that this is the kind of terrain the US Presidential election is going to be fought on. The spectrum of American thought on China runs from "overt hostility" through to "complete warmongering insanity". The unfortunate truth is that Joe Biden 2023 is probably as good as the United States is going to get for China in the near future. It's all downhill from here.
