Did they use the worst negotiators in the western world?

“First we’re going to blame you for interfering in elections, then we’re going to say you’re spying on us all time using cell phone equipment, next we sanction your companies and ban exports of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, finally we’re going to blame you for flying a balloon and some UFO stuff. All you have to do is not sell weapons to Russia!”

“… okay… what do we get then?”

“What? You want something in return?? Our gratitude is not enough? The nerve!”
Double use items are alright but should hold back on outright weapons supply for two reasons. Number 1 is it's not China's war, China doesn't benefit at all if it were to stop tomorrow coz we all know where the aid and material is gonna end up if not Ukraine. It takes years to surge production of weapons, you think the West especially the US will halt the production suddenly when peace is announced?. Number two is Russia despite the sensitivity of it's relations with China, actively manufactures and transfers tech to manufacture atleast a handful of super advanced weapons like Submarines, supersonic missiles, radars, Air defence weapons systems to India. Should any critical Chinese technology end up in Indian hands, it would only be a matter of time until they reverse engineer tf Outta it including the Yanks, Japanese the whole entire world. There's also the risk of intact weapons falling into enemies hands as is. So double use items should definitely be green lit, weapons not so much.

India cannot reverse engineer jack shit that is why countries like France sell advanced products to India all the time.

Exactly. Knowing the West, the appeal likely went along the lines of

"Don't you dare to supply weapons to Russia."

"Okay, so what will you offer in return?"

"Don't you dare to supply weapons to Russia."

"You said that already. But what are you offering?"

"Nothing. Don't you dare to supply weapons to Russia."

US is still going on about lethal aid to Russia.

Personally I think it would be silly not to have that card in your hand, particularly on the eve of that peace plan. Wang Yi might be in Moscow to hash out the final details to make sure those aid can reach the front smoothly. Notice how many meeting Wang Yi is having there and how little we know of what was actually talked about. Putin even used his long table side ways with Wang Yi.

Guanqi gang had a good point: if lethal aid gets the go ahead the most obvious sign we will see is all pro-Ukraine voices on Chinese internet instantly silenced. Be on the watch out for this.
Putin do be unusually beaming in those photos. Safe to say, that is not the look of a leader which was given instructions to pursue a disadvangeous peace.

Those who are pro Ukraine because they're bots have already been silenced in accordance with laws against undercover foreign activity. But it is unlikely that all pro Ukraine will be removed because there is a few reasons why at least some legit netizens can feel sympathetic to Ukraine. Because in the past, Russia committed no small amount of territorial aggression against China. Even though the current Russian leadership is harmless to China's vision and projected to remain that way for the foreseeable future, people don't forget easily.

That's not enough. All you have to do is look at the countries and people that have no history with China but they hate China. They hate China because they believe the West's narrative on China. The US and West go to war all the time yet China is looked upon as the military aggressor. If the West goes against China's proposal, is China going to go out of their way to defend it as much as the West will attack it? Beijing doesn't do that when the US vilifies China. Chinese responses to things sound so measured and canned because they're mindful they have to come across as neutral as possible.
Yes, you're not going to convince everyone, plenty of people have drank the western cool aid.

. As with the original version when Nurhaci did it to Ming you only issue a document like that prior to opening a can of whoop ass.

Another historical example is Kingdom of Chu. For over seven hundred the Zhou Dynasty kept the peace under a rule-based order called "

". Eventually the Kingdom of Chu after undergoing several very successful reforms became an extremely powerful kingdom within the dynasty, but under Rites of Zhou Chu continued to be considered a backwater and was not afforded political power consummate with their hard power. Eventually the Chu king was fed up and began an uprising against Zhou. When other kingdoms under Zhou asked the Chu king why he's attacking them with his armies when they did no wrong under Rites of Zhou the Chu king famously answered "

" or "I am barbarian, I care not for your rule based order because there no place in it for me, so I am going to bury your whole system".

It may well be that China has already quietly declared "我蛮夷也", people just don't realize it yet.

“Gallagher said he intends to hold a select committee hearing in Taiwan — hopefully before summer and then report back to McCarthy on its findings. That would better inform the speaker’s plans, and he and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) could visit possibly after Taiwan’s next presidential election in early 2024,” Ellen reported.
Boooo, get in here you pussy and let's get this show on the road.

This is the first Op-ed I've seen on Guancha about China-Ukraine relations in a while, a clear sign of which way the wind is blowing.
