Any Asian alliances with China based on politics or military are not practical. The political system China is having is uniquely Chinese and still evolving, for better or worse. It is not matured yet. To the Chinese, China seems to be doing something right but to many of the outsiders, China is a horrible authoritarian state. So any country that ally with China politically will be viewed similarly as a Chinese state especially by the powerful West with serious consequences. Besides China has stop exporting ideology/revolution and replaced it with consumer goods a long time ago.The part is few Asian nations or politicians want to form similar alliances with China. I have always said China needs to form alliances based on shared interests and values. These alliances needs to be based on more than just trade or Chinese loans.
Military alliances doesn't always worked either. Ask Vietnam. Even North Korean, depending almost entirely on China to survive, the relationship is troublesome at best. With Russia, it's been a complicated hate love hate love historic relationship.
So better for China to keep any kind of alliances as simple as possible, just like RCEP, belt and road (OBOR), AIIB, or just keep them as buddy like Pakistan.
