Brexit cost to UK economy revealed

Over $35 billion in business investment has reportedly been wiped out since the country’s withdrawal from the EU

Britain’s departure from the European Union has cost the nation £29 billion (over $35 billion) in business investment and has aggravated a slowdown in productivity, according to a new study by Jonathan Haskel, an external member of the Bank of England’s (BoE) Monetary Policy Committee.

The research showed that the lack of business investment growth since the 2016 referendum was equivalent to 1.3% of the UK’s gross domestic product, or about £1,000 ($1,221) per household.

By the end of the BoE’s forecast period in 2026, the gap between current levels of business investment and those before 2016 rose to 2.8% of GDP, “which is very close to the 3.2% number we found using the totally different methodology based on goods trade volumes,” Haskel said.

Private sector investment in the country “stopped in its tracks” in the years following the decision to quit the EU, according to him.
The BoE’s rate setter pointed out that in the aftermath of the vote, the UK immediately began to fall behind the trend of the previous six years and “suffered much more” when compared with other major industrialized economies.

Haskel’s comments follow BoE’s policymaker Catherine Mann’s statement earlier this month that the UK’s withdrawal from the EU free-trade area was to blame for the country’s excess inflation.

UK inflation, which hit a four-decade high of 11.1% last year, has cooled slightly to 10.5% amid a decline in global energy prices, but was still well above the BoE’s 2% target.

China can help America only if America immediately drops all threats of invasion, ends aggressive posturing in Asia and vows to reduce its military buildup.

Otherwise let them pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

No one on China's side wants war. Its all American delusions that a military operation against another nuclear power will somehow save their flagging economy. If America abandons the path of aggression, China would not mind giving them assistance.

US has the choice to save face and keep confronting China, resulting in burning out hard and fast, or let cooperation happen and wind down their threats.

Unfortunately, the Ohio incident is kinda a microcosm of how the current regime in Washington thinks, and which choice they'll go with.
With how badly they screwed up this disaster, I wouldn’t be surprise if another disaster of this caliber happens again, this time preferably nearer to the White House of the government cannot white wash things so easily without the consequences bitting them hard. If there is one thing to note, is that the elites never seem to suffer anywhere near what they should from crisis’s like this and it is high time their arrogances allows for such a crisis to manifest right on their collective door step.
In such an event, China should simply sit back and watch and get rid off as much dollars as humanly possible since at that point, those dollars would normally be used to save there sorry ass, which to be frank, isn’t in Chinas interest at that point because, why should China fix what isn’t broken by them and obviously who is attempting to harm China anyway.

The cargo on the train included some hazardous materials, prompting Union Pacific to monitor air quality at the site of the crash, according to the Splendora Police Department.

America just doesn't do anything one-off, do they?

They average 1700 derailments a year. It just happened to be back-to-back major incidents this time. Statistically, this train of events (hah) is within rounding error of the norm.
