Treason! Betrayal! Colonial going rogue!
Aren't all China Studies departments filled with quacks that do nothing but churn out racist propaganda?
U.K. government officials argue that the center allows them to influence the Chinese system and deliver tough messages on such issues.
Oh.

If they really wanted to understand China they could just ask Martin Jacques.

Nope. It was under Trump that the US started sending weapons to Ukraine including the Javelin ATGMs. That crossed a red line for Russia which eventually led to the invasion. Much of the same people have been in control of US government foreign policy with regards to Russia and Ukraine since Obama was President. Trump attempted a reset when he came into power, but he was quickly overruled, and he just went with it.
Not everything revolves around Ukraine. Trump accelerated deglobalization and put Germany on notice for failure to pay past dues. That process is far more important than some weopons to Ukraine. When Medvedev put his new year forecast tweets did he put US/Israel in same bucket with so called Fourth Reich. ultimately this Ukraine process will bring the central role of Mideast to the world.

My read of it is increasing funding for people to learn Chinese doesn't sound like decoupling to me.

Sounds like they're trying to do the old "have your cake and eat it" thing between China and US. If US does undergo a financial crisis this year we should see much more of this.

The reason why the Anglosphere will never understand China is because they insist on approaching China from the lens of colonialism and by extension, racial chauvinism.
Because of that racial chauvinism, they purposefully promote any "China Studies" students who will parrot their views back to them as opposed to honest scholarship (just read up on Thorsten Pattberg and China Studies).
This system inevitably produces the hereditary stupidity of matt pottinger and gordon chang. There was better understaind of China pre 1840 before the Opium Wars because the West actually humbled itself to learn about China, now the average Westerner approaches China with barely concealed racial contempt bordering on fear that a rising China will finally deprive them of their unearned western privilege. I've noticed in my studies in Europe that the most Anglophone european countries tend to be the most Sinophobic because they parrot Anglophone propaganda, whereas Europeans who are less anglicised tend to be far more objective and level headed.

The medium difficulty maths has differential calculus while the hard difficulty has integration calculus.

My Chinese relatives are indeed pretty startled to learn that high school maths in Australia can reach this level as I think integration in China is Uni only, and it clearly doesn't fit with the image of western countries being weak on maths in high school.
As far as I know, there are integrals, matrix operations, etc. in maths Gaokao.

math gaokao is not hard because of the content. Theoretically, you already know everything you need to by 2nd year high school. it is almost entirely geometry, algebra and trig.

what's hard is that it is highly proof based.
