The same was said for this winter too. Europe was going to freeze and starve according to some people. Europe's dependence on Russian commodities is like China's dependence on Taiwanese chips. It doesn't exist. Russian commodities were nice to have but we can function just fine without them. A bit of economic slowdown

The real dangerous effect Russian actions triggered is the West's kneejerk reaction. Isolationist, militarist and racist arguments gained a lot of traction which is, in long term, way worse than any Russian commodity embargo can be. Especially racism towards ethnic Russians is non-excusable.

Let's not be unrealistic. All those people protesting in Europe aren't doing so out of boredom. The cost of living has increased quite significantly as a result of the war. It doesn't mean European society is going to collapse, at least not yet.

The price cap is a face saving measure by the Europe in order to continue buying Russian gas. Consider that the cap was set at 60$, only a small fraction below the 67$ Russia was selling to China. Russia has no objection to offloading excess gas that it was flaring anyway.

The real kicker is that the EU can forget about it's ambitions of being a superpower. Instead, it has revealed itself to be a mere puppet of American imperialism.

The garden of Europe is going to be looking like a dried up uncared-for lawn. Like I've been saying Europe is just a moss-covered rock sticking out of the ocean. Not enough domestic natural resources to maintain their first world lifestyles. They have to get them from the jungle that has other customers that will pay more for their resources like China.

I predict the West, as usual when they're not the primary beneficiary of anything, will start dropping their core beliefs like free market principles and capitalism because they'll realize they can't compete on a level playing field in the world. I'm talking the actual level playing field not the one they hide behind when they're crying the world is unfair to them because they don't have a monopoly on international power and economics.

The US may have more domestic natural resources available to them but not enough to help their European allies. And Americans will realize that a large part of their power came from having allies. With Europe unpowerful because they can't feed their economic engines all the US has left as allies are fellow moss-covered rocks like Japan.

No. It is just there is no panic anymore. Europe avoided shortages for certain. European storages are more filled than they were during the December of 2021. The economic slowdown and warm winter are also lowering the demand. Russia got outplayed again.
It is always a battle between the most incompetent goverments, and EU + Russia always wrestle for first and second place

Record inflation + recession + lack of access to cheap energy from Russia + energy crisis + Biden's IRA to steal European industries to US + Ukraine's bottomless money pit + migration crisis + EU debt problems + endless internal EU divisions. Did I miss anything? EU's prospects look very bleak.

That's the narrative with every Western country. Buffer its work force and demographics with large swathes of immigrants. But make no effort to integrate them, and instead cynically drum up hate against them to score cheap political points among xenophobes as well as to preserve the racial status quo. Eventually for America, UK, France, etc. scenes like this will be a daily occurence until it spirals out of control.
To be fair, America is better at integrating immigrants into their country compared to a lot of European countries.

i am not sure why you think. Russa has lowest debt to GDP of a scientific country. Remember the earlier Israel and Japan example. Some nations are good in innovation and some are good in reliability.
it is integrating Innovation and Reliability into one product that Russia trying to master by learning from the best without incurring debt and other societal problems of other high income countries.
on top it is doing things that it will take a while for Europe to understand provided it even has the intellectual capital.

3 Kurds dead and you get a giant riot. Elder Asians murdered in KKK land everyday and you don't even hear a peep from the Asians. There is a reason why Asians are considered the model minority, we barely make any trouble.
Generations of Selective breeding for education and civility tends to have that effect on Homo sapiens. There’s a reason why China for eg is the longest continuous human civilisation on the planet,
