One of my coworkers "invested" half his life savings into NFT thinking it was just about to blow up and that it would be "generational wealth" to pass on to his grandkids.... I told him that money is just a claim on energy and with diminishing EROEI he wasnt going to be able to pass on jack squat... dude didnt listen to me...

Nah, those guys were in Toronto, and they got the classic Toronto welcome; pretty much no one in the city liked them. Also, they tried to organize... keyword being "tried".I remember brother ansy1968 and me talking about it, and I remember I had no clue. What happens on the streets in Ottawa, like who would care in Toronto? Now the point to remember here, is that Toronto and Ottawa are actually in the same province. Many people were upset, but there was no coordinating a simultaneous protest. No one in Toronto wanted to do this, tie up traffic.
