I know a lot of people don't like him, but his contribution cannot be ignored. China's technological and military achievements today are inseparable from his decisions 20 or 30 years ago.

If China is that far behind, why didn’t the USA colonize the moon already when they had free rein all those years ago. Not to mention the fact that many of these US satellites are outdated and quite vulnerable to ICBMs that can hit these satellites of which China are quite capable of doing
Corruption was a massive issue that was not tackled effectively until Xi, Jiang Zemin's investor favored approach led to a lot of corruption. Hukou/Urban-Rural wealth disparity was another issue that really intensified under Jiang and was not addressed effectively until second half of Hu-Wen administration.
Jiang also showed a lot of weakness when it came to the international front. The aircraft carrier program was basically sneaked past him as he did not favor any sort of military confrontation. The response to the embassy bombing and the aircraft crash were also considered weak.
Chinese liberals don't praise Jiang out of any actual solidarity, they simply do so in order to have it as an object of contrast to President Xi. Westroids' IQs are too low to actually understand Chinas political system, so the "liberals" politically lobotomize themselves in order to give their masters a singular figure to focus on. This is why any criticism of Xi from western sources makes no sense once you subject it to any sort of analysis, why news regarding Xi like him being couped, sick, drinking tea too often while making speeches also makes no sense. They are the product of an intellectual discourse with no foundation, manufactured by individuals with no honesty nor intelligence.
