The point is this.

In the past, the Americans would never be afraid or raising alarm bells about something like TikTok.

Now they are. Something has fundamentally changed.

It is kind of odd. Here we have China building out 5G networks, has a better working quantum computer using photons, deployed hypersonic weapons and is even more advanced in new tests, yet the American power elite goes all hyper about TikTok.

:rolleyes::oops:
It's the west realising they haven't had a "the next big thing moment" in like a decade.
It's so simple for the west to solve the tiktok issue just regulate the content. But something tells me they are afraid it will create a domino effect that other countries will also start to regulate their cybersphere content so how will the US spread its madness over the world if the reach of the madness is censored and regulated out of nations cyber spheres.

This behavior is not new, though. As I mentioned in another comment, uring the 70's and 80's they did the same thing with japanese stuff fearing Japan would over take them.

They can't handle not being top dog which also makes them dangerous because this time around, they can't torpedo the Chinese economy like they did with Japan so I can easily see them nuking the world if they can't be the hegemon anymore.

If they can't have it, no one else will.

The problem with this type of thinking from the Americans, is that the Chinese will call it out for what it is.

All bluff and nothing else.

It is like getting beaten in a game, then the loser says they will be back next time.

They always say that.

The Americans think they can create leverage just because they show some anger?

When the Americans show anger, the Muslims will try harder to kick them in the balls.

Chinese will not be much different.

Just need to fix a couple of typos and it would be perfect
  1. Replace "Xi Jinping" by "Western political elites"
  2. Replace "China" by "The West"
As Western political elites crave territory abroad, their real problems are at home.

The West's economic heyday is behind it. Optimism is turning to pessimism. People are losing faith that their quality of life will improve. The social contract is fractured.
It's my experience that almost any thing written by a "female Chinese diaspora journalist" for publication in Western MSM can be safely dismissed, because they are usually just anti-China propaganda and are not worth the time to read.

This is Iraqi WMD caliber shrilling for war over the Taiwan Strait by FT.

Elon Musk denied it. In 2018, Tesla lobbied the Trump regime to impose a 27% tarrif on China-made cars. Obviously it is too much for them now.

Why I don't like Trump very much:

It's amazing how much of the anti-China retoric just turns out to be projections of themselves.

If I were China's minister of propaganda, every day would be Christmas for me. Like I've said before, the US is creating all these alliances against China not to just thwart China but more importantly saving what power and influence the US has left over their allies. Western allies have suffer to save the US. And why? Because the US thought China would surrender immediately from just a simple computer chip ban. Now because the US doesn't want to admit they were wrong when they threw out there decoupling with China, the same logic is being applied to Japan where the US thinks Japan has no choice but to surrender to whatever the US wants but Japan on the other hand will most likely blink first because it needs export markets to maintain their first world lifestyle.

You know how they said Biden masterfully pulled the Western alliance to be closer than ever? That's what tends happens when you're retreating from the world and all they can do is circle their wagons together as their last stand. The reason why the Western alliance is suffering from supply chains problems is because the ones they're dependent on run through non-Western alliance countries. The only reason why they run through those countries is because that's the cheapest place for them when it comes to costs meaning any changes in that means inevitable higher prices for them. It's laughable when the West talks about self-reliance when everything they do costs more to do hence why the only reason they outsource to other countries. The reason why they fear China is because it's in a position to offer cheaper alternatives meaning they will make no money because they can't compete with the China price and they go bankrupt. So imagine cheaper alternatives in technology like computer chips. A major pillar that makes the West powerful in the world and it's about to crumble hence why the US is using the "nuclear" option against China like banning sales of technology to China that they make more money than from anyone else, because they see the end times for themselves if they don't do anything about it.

To be fair, pretty much ALL coverage of China in Western MSM can be safely dismissed as anti-China propaganda and are not worth the time to read, regardless of whether it was written by a "female Chinese diaspora journalist" or not.
