1) Pleco with paid addons, having a space repetition module in the app is a blessing same with the audio.
2) Also bought Chinese Zero to Hero as supplemental material to the confucius institute lessons.
3) I like the HSK storybook by B.Y. Leong, he has written multiple short stories and bundled them in graded HSK level books.
I had heard about the first one but never checked them it out and never heard of the others. I'm gonna take a look, thanks!

My main block right now is listening and talking because Chinese is so foreign to me, my brain just sometimes shut downs halfway speaking a sentence or listening to a text.
Been there. Happens a lot when there are several words in a row with Q, S, Z. Tongue eventually goes "Fuck this, I'm out".
Is there a local spot where Chinese ppl hangout? Maybe you can make some friends there maybe over Mahjong or Boardgames?
Most of the Chinese social clubs back home and where I am now speak mostly cantonese instead of mandaring from what I've been able to tell.

A "study partner" then
That'll be a hard sell, lol.

India runs its economy like a gangster. This gangster-treatment of Chinese companies is nothing new. India has been doing this to other foreign MNCs too for over many years.

India is already starting to pay the price:

Karma is a b**ch. When you are not the no.1 economy in the world, what gives you the right to play gangster with foreign MNCs?

Idiots. Continue debating what policies you want to implement while India hemorrhages more MNCs. This dilemma was easily settled in China, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.

Another funny article about foreign MNCs working with India:

This is typical of Indian thinking. When US companies are leaving India, somehow it must be the US who must be worried. Why is it the US's fault that India sucks as an alternative to China?

Retroactive tax is just plain robbery. This is gangster-level stuff.

Indian BJP government:
"Jai French wines! Oh BTW Pernod Ricard, you need to pay us 30 years worth of tax that we 'forgot' to tax you during all those years you were in India. Sucks to be you. JH!"

India fines Holcim $280+million for god-knows-what. When they surrender their assets in India, Adani magically comes in and swoops them up. It you think it looks much worse than Castro nationalizing privately-owned plantations in Cuba, it is. At least Castro was doing it for the common people in Cuba. This is Adani gangster-style appropriation of foreign MNC assets for himself.

Ford, a classic American automotive brand can't stand 'democratic' India! Not only are there no more Ford cars available in India. There are no more plans for 'Make in India' Fords. JH!

LOL! For once I totally agree with the US State Department.

-"sanitary and phytosanitary measures not based on science"
-"Indian-specific standards not aligned with international standards"

Are these comments really from the US State Department? LOL!

Either it was Scholz declined going with Macron together, or it was Xi Jinping rejected that idea. I think it is more likely the later because only China can decide who to come, and China does not see EU as a equal entity, especially not a friendly one. Actually in China's eyes, EU institution is the leading entity in Europe's anti-China trend. A joint visit by Germany and France even without the name of EU is an EU thing.

The beauty of Pleco is that they also have audio capability so you have a synth/recorded voice say the words. They come in male and female version usually i try just mimic how that sounds and not really pay attention to the tones. Ooh yeah a more gamified way of learning Chinese is using the app Hello Chinese, its subscription based but i personally think its worth getting 3 months subs as a supplemental learning tool.

But learning Chinese is really frustrating, if it isn't part of your native language family, a partial blessing is that the Dutch language shares some sounds with Chinese which the english languages doesn't share like "u" or "ü". There is very little content for adults at HSK 1 and 2 levels. So i'm glad they are changing the HSK program for future students. HSK 1 will have 300 or so words, HSK 2 will have 1200 or so words. I think once you reached HSK 3 in the new program you should be able to at least watch something else then pepa pig level of bullshit.

ps: don't over do it with the tools because i had that problem before you know it you have tool/app/book overload. Not being able to progress for me i'm fine sticking to 3 tools max.
