Liberals urge Biden to rethink Ukraine strategy
Is this a real shift or just fake posturing?
It is actually amazing how badly America fucked up the moves around Ukraine.
Russia played its economy cards in all the right ways but played its military fairly badly. Instead of exploiting this to go all in with NATO pressure and even send troops so they can sue for a realistic ceasefire that benefits Ukraine more than Russia but gives Russia token compensations, NATO proceeds to throw by ending all chances of a negotiated peace.
So now that negotiation with Russia is impossible, what is NATO endgame? Roll into Belgorod, Crimea and Minsk? Destroy black sea fleet? Such fantasies I remember were posted by some pro nato shills on another thread. It gets all NAFO 50 cent army soldiers hard and makes them sleep good at night, but what are the actual ramifications of such moves and how does it benefit USA?
Putin of course, says that if Russia cannot defend itself, it will use nukes. This is an open threat to Russia's friends, saying "we are the last line of defense, you better give us your best weapons if we are failing". And you can be sure there is no shortage of Russians that can carry Norinco guns, press buttons on MLRS or even advanced ballistic missiles if Putin insists hard enough on getting such donations. How exactly does going into this war further American power?
NATO victory in Ukraine means fighting China (and, honorable mention, Iran) to the last Russian. Of which there are several hundred million. And a NATO defeat means utter humiliation.
Perfect example of an unwinnable war, no wonder there are people in USA who are now looking for a third way.
