Hopefully not. Keep the Shanghai guys as far away as possible, they are incompetent. Talk about failing upwards

Doubtful about him becoming the Premier though. Wouldnt he have to first become a Vice Premier?

during which tens of millions of residents in the country’s financial center struggled to access food and medical care.
Mr. Li is likely to be elevated to the Politburo Standing Committee, the party’s top decision-making body, according to the people, who say the 63-year-old is also considered a leading contender to be named premier at China’s annual legislative gathering next spring.
The people close to party leaders cautioned that final deliberations on the makeup of the Standing Committee won’t be revealed until Sunday when the party elite is due to complete the membership of its top decision-making bodies for the next term.

can't the eu just ban chinese cars? I'm not saying they should, it's just that I expect them to antagonise china in any way possible; there was an article posted today or yesterday about stellantis' ceo warning against chinese car makers

The article was about how their market is shrinking in China, since domestic players now have decent products. Stellantis cars like Jeep, Fiat, Masarati, Doge are known as huge money pits and kinda "outdated or classic" styling, good riddance. It was only during the Chinese overly "western" obsession phase that some certain western brands are even alive in China, not necessary because of any real quality or value.

Assuming Scholz is the first one to visit, he will get some real bargains. It's going to be a 千金买骨 situation where China uses Germany as positive example to lure in others.
I think the stick will be more likely than the carrot.

We all know the only thing the Germans will be bringing to the discussion is complaining about the Ukraine. There must be a plan of some sort otherwise the meeting would have been cancelled like all those pointless EU ones.

There are plenty of tools that can be used to get Germany to back down. Import tariffs on German cars - China is already Germany's biggest customer for cars. There is also the export side of things. Most Chinese exports support Germany industry which adds value to them before being exported. Blocks or tariffs on exports to Germany will have a much bigger impact on German industry than the dollar value of the export.

Ultimately I don't think much will change. While there is hundreds of American military bases in Germany and organisations like BND are totally CIA compromised trying to pull them away from American hegemony is unlikely to happen. France is more likely candidate.
