Not really. Thucydides' Trap was formulated in a time when there were no nuclear weapons and no MAD. As long as China maintains a robust nuclear arsenal, the US will keep looking for other ways to undermine China's rise (like making retarded redundant "alliances" that sound like K-Pop bands, stirring up problems with Taiwan, etc...) hoping to find the answer until it realizes it's too late and China has overtaken it.
