The HK putsch failed because the pro-western terrorists were quickly apprehended and either exiled or given long prison sentences.

Uprisings in the west aren't given any air to breath, like the Canadian trucker protests or the Dutch farmer protests right now. Propaganda is the only thing the west is good at, giving them a free hand is suicide.

The HK riots were allowed to go on for a year before the NSL was introduced. During that time, the rioters were given free reign over the city.

I mean yea, but at least having some voice will help.

What's more by having some voice and promoting socialism/communism it can get actual local people to organise and stand up against CIA orgs/influence.

Although a problem with this, is that it will go against the local elite.

Maybe China could try fund this through NK as some kind of 'proxy', to not be seen as interventionist.
China shouldn't promote socialism/communism because of the negative connotations and falling into the western narrative that China is trying to spread its "governance system" to other country, instead they should adopt a different slogan like "common prosperity", "Shared future for mankind" and "Asian century" to spread their cause.

However organizing them to stand up against CIA NGO/orgs is going to be a bit more difficult, and like weeds they'll just sprout out again, carrying a different moniker, but its still worth a try. What China should also do is infiltrate those NGOs, their operations is usually to recruit "young leaders", holding seminars to spread "democratic values". They should tag those "revolutionaries" and "mentors", keep tabs on them, invite to some "tea" and maybe turn them into "martyrs".

Instead of competing in media, which the US currently dominates and can deny China by de-boosting theirs in the search engine algorithm, we should learn why China is well received in Pakistan and recently in Africa from the result of recent surveys. I think it has a lot to do with China helping out in poverty alleviation and offering education/job opportunities to those countries, so why not create a new initiative, where China would create NGOs that actively donate necessities and supplies to the poorest region in the country, offer scholarship and job opportunities, hold seminars promoting the idea of "common prosperity". (Basically what Western NGOs are already doing, without the fostering color revolution part)

Finally, I thought of the soft-power and image problem for a while, and I think the initiative must start from the domestic population, their corporation and us, to foster people to people relation and connections. The government can only do so much to promote their image.

Russia's Blockage Of Ukrainian Grain Exports Contributed To Sri Lanka Turmoil, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

Moscow says it would allow Ukrainian ships loaded with food products to leave if Ukraine's military demined the waters off Odesa and other ports.

But Kyiv says it can't demine the coast because Russia would "use grain corridors to attack southern Ukraine."

US blames Sri Lankan crisis on Russia

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has claimed that “Russian aggression” may have contributed to the unrest

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed on Sunday that “Russian aggression” in Ukraine may have been partly to blame for the turmoil in Sri Lanka. The island nation has been in a state of unrest for several months, with food and fuel in short supply and prices skyrocketing. It escalated on Saturday as thousands of protesters stormed the president’s residence, forcing him to flee.

English space is filled with pro-capitalist and pro-imperialist media/voices though, so even if the language is 'neutralish' learning english can have people get fooled.

With that said, China really needs to improve it's education, especially on socialism/communism as well as the grim realities of capitalism and (neo-)imperialism.
I don't know why you think anyone who is fluent in English would automatically be brainwashed by the West.
Indians have not taken the west's side on the Ukrainian conflict despite access to English media. Africa which which has unfettered access to Western mainstream media and social media platforms are pro Russia/China and anti imperialists.

Yes a few can be fooled but the overwhelming majority know the truth and would never be swayed by cheap state department approved talking points.

China infact needs an English speaking army that can take on American journalists on any platform and own them like this Ghanaian MP did. Go through the comments.

The main issue is the lack of marketing. China is doing a lot to help out other developing countries. But these positive contributions are not being promoted enough in the media. So lots of people living in those countries aren't aware of it. Meanwhile, anti-China propaganda like "debt trap", "China is taking over", etc. are blasted all over the front page and have tons of likes/retweets on social media.

The US controls all the mainstream media and won't give China any positive rep at all. And Chinese media companies haven't done a good job building a strong platform to really promote themselves. TBH, China is fighting an uphill battle in the media. The current staff in the department of publicity are not suitable for the job. They need to hire some new personnel to try a different strategy.

Nah, but it would result in some people being brainwashed (they already exists in China and in chinese media, some of them are paid shills though, although at the end of the day, they are quite the annoyance).

Yes, but there's also plenty that have ended up being brainwashed by the west, this is a fact.

Then what's the case of Sri Lanka?

Kind of agree.
