If you are going to invest so much money you also need to protect it.

Myanmar is gone. Pakistan is also semi-gone (probably 100% gone after its current government economically collapses the country). Sri Lanka is gone (no way the CIA will let a China-friendly person come in power).

Well first of all, the BRI is an economic initiative. Just because the US overthrows the current government doesn't mean the new government won't have to work with China. BRI cooperation is still happening in Myanmar, for example.

Second, the purpose of BRI is to create new infrastructure markets and routes. If China had to invest resources into countering US coups, it would defeat the purpose of BRI, and drag China into a pointless influence war.

China needs to start buying/creating local media in BRI countries, and prop them up to counter western propaganda.

Example: If they had done for Sri Lanka they could point out China only owns 10% of Sri Lanka's debt, as well as point out the history of US NED organisations.

On what platform? Good old radio and TV?

Another factor to consider is that this isn't an opinion war, despite Western media attempts to portray it as a "people's protest".

As we've seen in HK, is not about poll numbers, it's about organization. The CIA has the influence to organize these protestors into storming the presidential palace. It even had the influence to convince the government not to act. You need tons of money to create the networks and infiltration necessary to carry this out.

China should not follow suit because doing so is ultimately a bad investment. The CIA can only destroy, they can't build a viable counter to China's offer. Therefore, all they can do is delay the inevitable.

I mean yea, but at least having some voice will help.

What's more by having some voice and promoting socialism/communism it can get actual local people to organise and stand up against CIA orgs/influence.

Although a problem with this, is that it will go against the local elite.

Maybe China could try fund this through NK as some kind of 'proxy', to not be seen as interventionist.

Not as tense as previous meetings... but looking at Blinky for 5 hours, still torturous.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a "comprehensive, in-depth, candid and efficient conversation" with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, to which the two sides attached great importance, after attending the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bali on Saturday, the Global Times has learned.

The meeting in Bali lasted more than five hours, which is a long time for a one-on-one meeting and has been rare in ministerial level talks in recent years, the Global Times learned from the meeting.

Simultaneous interpretation was adopted throughout the meeting, it also learned that means the two sides were able to have thorough communication on a wide range of issues in China-US relations, conducive to delivering clear messages from both sides.

Among the interactions between Chinese and senior officials of the Biden administration, the Anchorage meeting in March 2021 was the longest, with the two sides meeting three times in a row, each time lasting about three hours.

US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman visited China and held six-hour talks with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng in Tianjin in July 2021. "The two sides had a very deep and thorough discussion," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in its description of the meeting.

Both China and the US believe that the dialogue in Bali was substantive and constructive, and will help to enhance mutual understanding, reduce misunderstanding and miscalculation, and pave the way for future high-level exchanges between the two countries, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The Chinese side described the meeting as "substantive" and "constructive" in the press release, which means that the two sides had a pragmatic discussion and covered comprehensive bilateral relations and specific issues in bilateral relations, an analyst told the Global Times.

The meeting was "constructive" in that some consensus was reached and some specific and outstanding issues were resolved, as can be seen from the press release, the analyst said, adding that the US has also made some positive statements, but it is more important for the US to implement what it has pledged in talks and China will observe if the US actions match its words.
Damn! Five hours of Blinky getting told? I almost feel some sympathy. Almost.

fake.

$1 to $20 ratio is still a possibility if you factor in the significant bureacracy, mic and political corruption.
I offer a recent price point for the ratio:

US approved a 35 ton light tank last week, costs just shy of 12 million USD each. Conceptually it's a lot like a Type-15 only bigger and heavier because it uses a 4 man crew and no autoloader.

I tried to look up price for Type 15 and as best I can tell it's somewhere over 1 million USD and below 2 million USD. So we're talking a ratio of 6-12 times. Not quite as extreme as 1 to 20 but it's up there.
