It annoys me to no end how much people even in the Third World drink their news sources straight from Western media

Journalists simply look for international news in the language they can understand: English. If you look at media in the "global south," they simply translate whatever they read in American newspapers, translating it, along with its bias or spin, to the local language. They have no capability to do otherwise. It's not like they can read Chinese or Korean or Arabic. So American newspapers decide what is true in the world. That's the great thing about being an American, you will always be on the right side.

But what’s the point if their people believe the lie that those loans are the cause of their problems? this is the strength of propaganda, making people choose an option that is detrimental to their interests but masquerading it as something good for them. comes down to the fact that China needs to step up their media game.
Well, the other alternative is more US influence and the disappearance of a profitable business. And really? Who cares about what the opposition thinks? In countries like Sri Lanka average person doesn't know much about what their gov is doing. The opposition will of course blame the gov and use any argument it can. But when they take over their destiny will lie in their economic performance too, which means they will continue doing business with China.
Indians are cheering thinking this is the end of Chinese influence in Sri Lanka. If supreme leader Modi fails to manage India's economic ties to Sri Lanka it may end up being the opposite.

Blinken didn't look too happy before his meeting with Wang Yi, definitely won't be happy afterwards.
Even (I assume) with translators, 5 hours is long meeting
As reported by foreign media, Wang and Blinken's meeting lasted longer than five hours, a long time for a one-to-one meeting, and Wang and Blinken may have direct discussions addressing a number of topics without via translators, which means the effective time for the meeting was above three hours, which is rare and means the two sides had very candid talks and sent clear messages to each other, Lü said.

Wang Yi shuts down any talk about setting up "guardrails"
Wang said the US has cited a need for 'guardrails" for China-US relations, the three joint communiques are in fact the most reliable "guardrails" for the two countries and as long as the two countries fulfill their promises in the three communiques, the bilateral relationship will not deviate from the track. Otherwise, more guardrails won't work, Wang said.
Over recent years, the Biden administration has mentioned the need for "guardrails" for bilateral relations on several occasions, but failed to offer a clear explanation of what these "guardrails" are. This time, Wang offered a clear response on the issue of "guardrails", Lü noted.
Diao noted that the Washington-proposed "guardrails" are entirely self-serving, as it wants to keep the bottom line of China-US relations stable and free of high-intensity conflict, but at the same time it seeks to contain China's development and to "encircle" it with its allies by playing up the "China threat" theory. Such "guardrails" are obviously unacceptable to China.

I'm pretty sure the $145 billion fund that goes to "influencing" journalists around the world through Operation Mockingbird has something to do with that.

And I would be surprised if there weren't atleast someone on staff at any of the smaller news agencies that have working knowledge of Mandarin.

The global media is dominated by western corporate outfits that colludes with US state department. China stepping up alone would still be tough to break through that. Russia was more adept at playing the game not least by employing western tactics to use against them, but they still got cancelled when it mattered.

US has even increased funding for anti China propaganda, providing hundreds millions more to smear China belt and road projects. If China also did the same, will it help to reverse the situation, I doubt it. Ultimately only hard power as others mentioned will cause the entire western media narrative to crumble as more and more people realize they are in a matrix and being lied to by western propaganda.

Take this popular tweet. It's blatantly anti China and twisted the facts but quite many people buy it, this despite the so called debt trap slandering being repeatedly refuted by Chinese or pro China sources.

And some STDs, only in the West stuff like this happens, not even in Taliban Emirate
Surprisingly no. The victims all got tested and the tests have so far returned negative for anything like HIV or STDs. And nothing is taken from them.

Here is one incident caught on camera, quite unsettling...
