Thats an easy thing to do and doesnt require much effort. When the entire Western World has been constantly screaming "Debt Trap" then eventually the layman will also accept it as the truth. I was watching local Srilanka news and even there the protestors blame borrowing from China.
China should avoid lending to countries where there isn't effective rule of law, where corruption is pervasive and where dynasts, despots , incompetent individuals rule the roost. Pakistan too is facing economic crisis and there too people are being fed that CPEC and the associated debt is to blame.
Its time China re-evaluates its policy of non- interference and lends like Western institutions with strings attached . Because benevolent lending is certainly not producing the expected results and infact causing the opposite effect.
It annoys me to no end how much people even in the Third World drink their news sources straight from Western media

I wonder how much of these protests are actually driven by the US and India as well as their media. I’m sure there are legitimate grievances but such a big protest is certainly driven by a larger actor. I wonder how China and have any chance of influencing Sri Lanka in the future after this coup.

I don't agree with this. China's non-political debts are good for China. China mostly profits from them and it deprives the USA of one of its tools. China is not the only entity that lost money in Sri Lanka. In fact, it didn't even hold that big of a piece of Sri Lanka's debt.

If they keep doing that there won't be any Kazakhstan left to co-operate and Kazakhs aren't "Blonde and Blue-eyed" there will only be lip service from West
Kazakhstan should de-westernize it economics as soon possible. Arab world will not tolerate another Turkic nation gaining importance. They have done similar things with Iran. put Western sanction on Iran than open Parallel trade through UAE with Iran. regulating Suez canal and buying up ports is how Arab control trade. that January events in Kazakhstan were trial run
these are dubbed for Arab audience before arrival in Medinah.

But what’s the point if their people believe the lie that those loans are the cause of their problems? this is the strength of propaganda, making people choose an option that is detrimental to their interests but masquerading it as something good for them. comes down to the fact that China needs to step up their media game.
