It seems that China has actually agreed with Russia with regard to Iran, just that instead of new G8, it is BRICS+. Xi invited them and had them deliver a keynote speech.
Interesting move and contradicts the belief that China sees Saudi as much more important.
I still personally think it's a bad idea to get too involved in the middle east.
"world on a strong path for the future by investing in sustainable projects that are “grounded in our shared values.” "
Try to copy China by using the tagword "share". Value means to impose their will onto developing states, just as how they have been doing for the past several decades. Nothing new.
"“It’s built using the global best practices — transparency, partnership, protections for labor and the environment,"
It's built ? There aint even a clear path to funding it, much less when it come to competitiveness. I guess Korea and Japan companies will be heavily promoted here with western funding.
"“We’re offering better options for countries and/or people around the world to invest in critical infrastructure that improves …"
Rhetoric vs actual capability are very different.
"Biden argued Sunday that the investments would have concrete benefits for Americans and other G-7 nations and said the initiative presented an opportunity for democracies to prove that they can deliver over autocracies. "
As long as the basis of any western-bloc backed infra scheme is based on "fight against China/or any other powers", it will simply means the the target nations' welfare are not even of consideration but are treated as mere regions of geopolitical struggle. Developing states will be wary of deals offered by western powers.
"“When democracies demonstrate what we can do — all that we have to offer — I have no doubt that we’ll win the competition every time,” he said. "
Ah yes, alas so it is about domination and beating others. Same shit, same result.
