Corporate ‘Self-Sanctioning’ of Russia Has US Fearing Economic Blowback

Officials seek to clarify guidance so there aren’t unintended impacts on inflation, supply chains
A closed McDonald's restaurant in Moscow on May 16.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine galvanized the US, UK and European Union to unleash a slew of sanctions meant to punish Vladimir Putin’s government and pressure him to pull his forces back.
But some Biden administration officials are now privately expressing concern that rather than dissuading the Kremlin as intended, the penalties are instead exacerbating inflation, worsening food insecurity and punishing ordinary Russians more than Putin or his allies.

A ocean of unintended consequences.

You really have to marvel at European efficiency!

In one stroke, they have managed to deprive their citizens of Chinese solar panels and batteries as alternative power sources after they made oil and gas unaffordable to so many; and they will make cotton clothes much more expensive and scarce so their poors can’t even wear more clothes to try to keep warm when they cannot afford to heat their homes.

But look on the bright side, now that covid is loosing its effectiveness in culling the undesirables (old and those with underlying health issues-aka welfare recipients) from western societies, soon the cold will cull another big batch this winter and the western pensions and welfare black holes will get so much smaller come summer! Just think of the savings!
Interesting way of commuting genocide on one self without doing anything to the opposition (in fact said opposition is scratching their heads and going WTF). Really if a lot of Europeans end up dying because of their leaders stupidity, assuming the Europeans survive the winter and inflation to some extent, they really ought to get the gullotine out on these walking liabilities to the world at large because Europe simply isn’t capable on delivering on a so called ‘green new deal’, especially when the likes of Ursula only seems the believe Ilin the message while making it literally impossible to carry out due to destroying their own industries but cutting the out from the resources required to carry out their vision. Assuming that the Europeans will one day regain their will, they should get rid of there leaders because it is clear they are trying to depopulate their own people by any means necessary.

BRICS developing global reserve currency – Putin

It will be based on a currency basket of the five-nation bloc, according to the Russian president

According to the Russian president, the member states are also developing reliable alternative mechanisms for international payments.

IDK how this works. Certainly not like the Euro. Would this currency be an internal use or like a tradable currency?

China will only hurt herself by retaliating in kind, this won’t hurt China much as they can divert polysilicon to their internal market and build up rooftop solar to 50% of buildings. It’s simple to divert previously EU bound products to SCO, GCC and North African countries, where they can be re-exported or used.

They need to create more internal demand for cotton now. Perhaps everyone should get a new wardrobe, different styles maybe.

However, for the sake of face, they probably will respond, I just hope they find a clever way that doesn’t inflict self harm like western sanctions. Chinese wisdom is needed here.

Someone mentioned these are EU sanctions, so for me it’s better to sanction more EU officials and anti China misinformation spreaders, journalists and politicians instead of EU countries‘ goods and services, which is self defeating and hate generating.

Edit, As these sanctions are related to Human Rights then China can also sanction anyone that abused Europeans human rights too, just not the regions when it happened. But the perpetrators or the systems.
No, there needs to be retaliation. You need to free the other side from the delusion that they can sanction China with no consequences. Next time they want to sanction China, the US/EU shouldn't just have to think about the direct costs to them but also the costs of retaliation. This will make them more cautious to act.

China has been attempting to diversify energy imports for a while now. Putting the rest of the acronym in play doesnt really make a difference. Pray tell when South Africa start making dents in the graph beyond 1%.

EU is already openly sanctioning a bunch of China based firms. New US ones would have them gaggle more.

What I like the most about the West is that they think that because they want to negotiate with China at a specific time, China is obliged to do it.

Here what China is going to do:

Negotiate with the EU only in the winter when the EU would be suffering from blackouts/lack of gas/heavy inflation/recession.

Negotiate with the US when inflations hits 2-digits, economy is solidly in recession, political pressure increases more on Biden/Democrats to do something

China got plenty of time, no need to hasten the negotiations, its the West that it is begging for them after all. Also don't forget that there is the third-term thing for Xi. Xi might want to wait after the upcoming Party Congress before doing these big negotiations. No need to expose yourself to potential political risk with these negotiations while you are also campaigning for a third term

There is two kind of inflation measurement. one for export and one for domestic market. the headline number is combined.

Another member of the US government has been successfully recruited by the MSS. Welcome, Comrade Tai!

Already learning from Agent 001, the master negotiator, Comrade Trump

But somehow, Tai does not want to see the real BIG PICTURE :
  • US trade deficit has been setting new record every quarter since Tai took over as US Trade Representative, and
  • Import from China is a big part of it.

I like that term... "narcissistic self-delusion". In other words "I don't need you but you need me". That perfectly describes how the West applies that logic to everything to their own demise.
It's something deeply entangled with western society, or well Christianity (can go to heaven despite being an abuser/narcist/horrible person).

He basically came from a family where his mom abused him and his brother (she's a big believer of Chris/Christianity), and well, basically a nasty narcissist and abuser.

Some of his videos I would recommend would be something like this one:
