Let me try to understand the logic why sanctioning Russia's gold import and export will put Russia on her knees.
I give up. There is no logic at all.
- Russia is neck to neck with China as the two top gold producing countries in the world.
- Russia import very little gold. Not even among the top 15.
- Russia ranks #7 as gold exporter (4.4% of global export) in 2021.
- Russia is right next door to China, the #7 ranked gold importer (11.1% of global import) in 2021. China can easily absorb all the gold Russia exports.
This idea is probably originated from the same group of western financial/economic wizards who came up with the ideas of EU banning coal import from Russia in April (two months later EU all switching to coal), escrow oil & gas payment to Russia (this brilliant idea lasted not even a week), and institute a cap on Russia oil prices.
Sure look like another home run from these guys.
China will only hurt herself by retaliating in kind, this won’t hurt China much as they can divert polysilicon to their internal market and build up rooftop solar to 50% of buildings. It’s simple to divert previously EU bound products to SCO, GCC and North African countries, where they can be re-exported or used.
They need to create more internal demand for cotton now. Perhaps everyone should get a new wardrobe, different styles maybe.
However, for the sake of face, they probably will respond, I just hope they find a clever way that doesn’t inflict self harm like western sanctions. Chinese wisdom is needed here.
Someone mentioned these are EU sanctions, so for me it’s better to sanction more EU officials and anti China misinformation spreaders, journalists and politicians instead of EU countries‘ goods and services, which is self defeating and hate generating.
Edit, As these sanctions are related to Human Rights then China can also sanction anyone that abused Europeans human rights too, just not the regions when it happened. But the perpetrators or the systems.
Ho Chi Minh Road
Technically they should have situated the US Embassy on Vietnam War Rd or something
Illidan is out there somewhere...So you stole my stationery, and I took your shoes in return.
Now you want me to give you back these shoes, and see how you should feel about it??
Dear god, how on earth did you become a mod lmfao.Biden regime will sanction some Chinese companies (Hikvision etc) to death right after removing some tariffs to show how tough it is on China
I like that term... "narcissistic self-delusion". In other words "I don't need you but you need me". That perfectly describes how the West applies that logic to everything to their own demise. Why the "Uyghur forced labor law"? For the U.S., if everything else fails, you impose sanction. However, this is just another thinly disguised trade-war, and it will fail as miserably as the previous one. Make sure you read the whole article. This is one of the most clear-eyed account of America's hubris.
Well, not all people are bright enough to see the fact that rebellion is a part of the system , by criticizing your own system from time to time, you add extra credibility to it.I wouldn't give any kudos. While he has mentioned some of the things his country has done, he has skipped the root question that is about him & his people.
Pretentious government fixing will not save him or his people.
This kind of apostatising here is so disapointing generally, I actually yearn for the days both BD and JHD were around RIP. More aggressive and unannounced calls for adherence to SDF "laws". That said, this post would qualify.I like that term... "narcissistic self-delusion". In other words "I don't need you but you need me". That perfectly describes how the West applies that logic to everything to their own demise.
Tai says removing the duties is likely to have a limited effect on inflation, indicating she is pushing for the president to maintain tariff pressure on Beijing
US Trade Representative Katherine Tai on Wednesday said that she views tariffs on Chinese goods as “a significant piece of leverage” in the US-China trade relationship and removing them was likely to have a limited effect on controlling short-term inflation.
“We need to be keeping our eye on the ball on this bigger picture,” Tai said.
Already learning from Agent 001, the master negotiator, Comrade Trump“The China tariffs are, in my view, a significant piece of leverage – and a trade negotiator never walks away from leverage,” Tai said.
