India is not an US ally, at least not since what is now India was under British rule.

Anyone who believes India to be an American ally is either misinformed, or actively spreading disinformation, as in the case of Nimarata "Nikki" Haley (nee Randhawa):

There's a reason why disloyal Nikki was not offered a role in the second Trump administration.

Depending on how mouthy Haley gets, there's a chance President Trump will direct the FBI and DoJ to dig into her for FARA or Hatch Act violations, or maybe something else altogether. ;)

Do India and US have like a defense treaty to be allies?

This really pisses me off about Indian attitude. They keep talking big and daring people to hit them. When they actually get hit they start screaming and playing victim like they don't remember what they said 5 minutes ago.

Have some balls already. You can't start screaming about how someone hits you in a boxing or mma fight.

Yeah, exactly, they act like a bitch.

Same with Canadian politicians, who are all bitches and act like it too.

Guess that is why so many Indians from Punjab want to come to Canada.

Too much like home, at least on that level, with spineless useless politicians.

The closest thing to it is that they're both in the Quad, but that doesn't confer any defensive obligations.

No: India is not a de jure or even a de facto American ally.

Besides NATO countries, the following countries are considered de jure allies

Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, and Tunisia.

Even though Pakistan is included on this official list of American allies, India is clearly omitted and excluded.

Probably a good thing for India if you were to ask the late Harry Kissinger!

Yes.

The reality is that Chinese society is hyper competitive or as one of them put it, “Darwinian.” Not everyone is going to make it and some people invariably get left behind. The economy moves quickly & the government can’t provide decent jobs for all; it’s unfortunate but it’s also why China is successful while other countries are not.

Even among more affluent, intelligent circles, the number one reason why Chinese immigrate to the US is because they think life is easier in America. That was and probably still is the case in most industries. But this comfort comes at a cost & it’s why the US is run by immigrants, and even then, it is struggling more to keep up.

Strong men create prosperity; prosperity breeds weak men; weak men bring tough times, and tough times create strong men. This is the essential cycle of civilization. The US is in the “weak men bring tough times” step.
If you read the article, Pan was a land owning peasant, already married, with kids. He had literally 0 economic pressure. Every single major expense, he doesn't need to pay.

Even his family was extremely confused as to why he ditched them to work as basically a penniless beggar.

During the ROC and Qing era, only tenant farmers with no land were forced to immigrate to survive. If they heard a married landowner immigrated for a "childlike belief" (as the article ridiculed him as) they'd slap him upside the head.

Then maybe his wife slap him on daily basis, just as my friend
