@Overbom bro it's very unfortunate BUT in exchange, gaining territory worth more than $250 billion the West stole. Like the Crimean Crisis in 2014, the Russian will bounce back as the Ruble had regain its strength. So Who are the losers? aside from the Ukrainian that may not exist in its current form, We may see Germany deindustrialized, Poland, the Baltic state and Bulgaria a frontline armed state and finally EU disintegration.
EU and Russia conflict is much deeper and wider than just Ukraine. Russia intervention in Africa is creating condition to delay or make economically expensive the materials needed for EU digital and Green transformation. this is further gas lighting EU to invest more into Ukraine hoping it will solve the problem without understanding Ukraine.
while ECB balance sheet is now size of EU GDP if there is real GDP left. The size and strength of GDP is measured by real difference on the ground. it is one thing to build reservoirs for 3 to 4 million people but it very different scale for 30 to 40 million with much bigger Agro potential. you never know the size of tourist season after all those restrictions. its already paying.

American ‘economists’: It’s not a bug if you call it a feature!

Other big brain suggestions include:
- stop looking for work to fix high unemployment
- legalise illegal drugs to win the war on drugs
- more guns in schools to solve school shootings
- have the rich pay less tax to solve excessive government debt

Nah, this is very smart. You build lasting and very strong security and overall partnerships with countries by going full support in difficult times.
Nah, this is what you do when there's no potential left at home so you're forced to invest in others, often lost causes. Dynamic countries with growth potential like China know that self-development is where the action is; fading countries like the US with no self-confidence look the world over desperate for help from anyone.
They will remember in later times and cling to you like a very small child to his parents. This is how you strengthen hegemony and build you preffered world order.
Countries don't remember jack shit; after you give them the money, they ask for more money. How much has NATO given Ukraine? What does Zelensky say afterwards? "Thank you so much for all of your support; Ukraine and her people are eternally in your debt. Your heroism and generosity will be remembered forever. Any support you gave and continue to give in these crucial hours, no matter how small or large, are endlessly appreciated. Nothing is lost to our enduring brotherhood, which will persevere over all obstacles and tests!" Wow, what a beautiful speech; it just makes you feel like it's all worth it even if you emptied your bank account? Did he say that? No??!! I just made that up in 2 minutes? What did he actually say? Here it is: "Leaders should not come here with empty hands." That's what he actually effing said as they were literally funnelling resources to him live and he just said that shit like it wasn't even happening. He wants more, endlessly, never happy with what was given. When one builds a relationship on giving resources to others, that's what the relationship will continue to be. Once you stop giving or give less, they curse you and remember nothing. The relationship is nothing but a lunch ticket. If a country is flush with cash and domestic development is going forward a max speed, it's ok to loan or give some chump change with strings attached, of course, to slicken up international relations, maybe gamble a little, but to bleed onself dry in trying economic times giving money to buy allies is a failing proposition. Pathetic, desperate strategy for people to make friends; pathetic, desperate strategy for countries to make "allies."

Who knows. Gazprom might even sell Bulgaria the gas. But I doubt it will be at the same price as in the old contract.
By not paying Bulgaria, Poland, and now Finland cancelled their contracts.

I already had figured out the current Prime Minister of Bulgaria was kind of an idiot. The previous one was pretty smart though.
The current PM got his college degrees in Canada and the US and used to have a Canadian passport.
So you probably should know where his loyalties are. I doubt it is to the Bulgarian people.

The previous one got the TurkStream to pass via Bulgaria as a transit country and basically guaranteed gas from Russia even if the pipeline from Ukraine got cut for whatever reason. This guy just demolished that without even considering an alternative first.

"Secretary Blinken’s Call with Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov
...
Secretary Blinken expressed the United States’ appreciation for Bulgaria as a reliable NATO Ally and reaffirmed our intent to expand our partnership into new domains such as the promotion of Bulgaria’s clean energy transition, defense modernization, and 5G security, while working toward a shared vision of a strong and vibrant transatlantic relationship and an expanded European Union."

i.e. buy our LNG, buy our weapons, and kick Huawei out.
