Contains an interesting shot of T97 replicas

Can anyone from Australia please explain why the politicians talk like the PLA is skipping Taiwan and heading straight for Canberra?
I really don't get it, seems to be a really big deal to Australian politicians. In Canada and the US, usually the China threat is undue influence, spying, that kind of thing. However, you listen to these Australians and I feel like they are watching Red Dawn.
Australia considers itself the frontier province of the anglosphere and being as such is in a constant state of fear of being overrun by the asiatic horde. One of the books (Tomorrow when the War Began) that students study here in high school is about a bunch of kids going all wolverine and conducting acts of sabotage and guerilla warfare against an unspecified asian occuapier that have invaded and taken over.

When the book was made into a movie in 2010 I immediately noticed something familiar in the film's opening animation:

I have a feeling the UK would keep extending the exemption for importing Russian gas.

LONDON, April 22 (Reuters) - Britain will allow payments to Gazprombank and its subsidiaries for gas going to European Union countries until the end of May, a Treasury document showed on Friday.

Britain imposed sanctions on Gazprombank last month, giving counterparts a deadline of April 23 to wind down their business with the lender, which is one of the main channels for payments for Russian oil and gas.

Under a new licence published late on Thursday, however, Britain's Treasury said payments to Gazprombank for gas being made available in the EU under contracts entered into before April 21 could now continue until May 31.

Still not at the peak yet, wait and see if they actually embargo Russian natgas and oil. If they did, then its going to be a bloodbath.
Even now, they have to reopen their closed plants in Russia and downsizing productions of similar products in Germany just to remind competitive. Similar situations with Frence too. Chinese companies will need to act fast in buying up ventures abandoned cheaply by EU.

It seems China is better than the US in trade wars. Lithuania, Australia, and H&M boycotts show that the Chinese is indeed capable of boycotting. Compare this to the US trade war on China where American investment to China keeps breaking records.
It is not that the Chinese do not want to invest in US or Australia. It is their paranoia of any Chinese investment that is hindering growth. Besides would you invest in a country that is considering a legislature of not returning your panda? Just by talking about it has already damaged their creditability.

Japan fears China-Russia LNG alliance after Shell exits Sakhalin-2

Energy giant Shell's reported talks with Chinese companies over its stake in the Sakhalin-2 project raise energy security concerns for Japan as possible Moscow-Beijing dominance in the project could end up reducing Japan's liquefied natural gas access.

Quite the thoughtful gift from Japan.
