Sure... that's why I said start with 1 tonne of grain for 2 tonnes of gold, this exchange rate like other exchange rates is a measure of risks, so if the europeans behave and play nice, we'll award them with a good rate, otherwise we'll start counting grain kilos against gold tonnage.

How about one tonne of grain for one tonne of EUV machine with full tech support. China already has so much gold, and they don’t really generate much value.

Sorry, It wasn't supposed to be a retort against you. I'm just feeling a bit disappointed and angry at how the leaders in EU is acting, like they don't seem to have any strategy or realpolitik to serve their own people or country, instead they are actually committing suicide for the benefit of US only. Even if I was an EU elite paid by US, I would try to get the upper hand by selectively backstabbing and plotting behind their backs.

Reading the replies from PTI supporters after IK got overthrown on tweets by their own military, I can feel their pain of seeing their own elites selling their own country and sovereignty. Their apathy, self-destructiveness and nihilism hits too close to home. If such a thing happen in my own country, I'll rather it be broken down than to continue at that state.

All good news, european industries are going down the toilet; inflation, low productivity and increased arms expenditure will eat away their wealth and remaining power... China can forget about CAI, 10 yrs down the track Eurozone will be back in the Dark Ages that CAI will have absolutely no value for China, while Eurozone still have to buy our goods as their industries will even be more hollowed out.

I have never lived closer to a moment of nuclear conflict than today after Cold War 1.0.

This author is somewhat balanced, especially in today's context. Hugh White is the only Aussie scholar I respect. This may be a distant second. I hope professionals keep being professional. Unfortunately, Hugh White does not speak as often nowadays. I guess there would be too much pressure for voicing his views publicly.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Don't forget another couple tonnes (make it 10 or 20) of grain in exchange for complete technology transfer of EUV machine manufacturing to China as well.

ASML and the EU are gonna be fuming at this. But what else can they eat?

Can they eat EUV machines to avoid starvation?

Apparently the Western Media (says Xinhua) is demanding China release 20% of their grain stocks to help relieve the European Markets.

Lol. Go starve. Too scared the peasants will revolt over €50 euro bread loafs now that they plan to embargo oil after the elections.
Most of their grain imports are used on animal feed anyway, so they'd still have their baguettes and ciabattas, but say bye-bye to pork chops, steaks, drumsticks, burgers and sausages.

Or they could go for a 1lb pack of grass-fed beef @€500 apiece instead.

They certainly have sufficient grains… but is it affordable? Europe isn’t going to starve from the lack of food but from the lack of affordable food. They need China to drive prices down and probably tariff/sanction China a year later for dumping grain on the market.
