i think Iran and Venzuela in similar situation selling below market with currency flexibility.
most interesting will be Turkey position. once Erdogan sees that India and China getting cheaper. he will force Azerbaijan and Kurdistan to sell him in local currency at price of his choosing.
but countries like Saudi/UAE are selling over the bench marks.

As a matter of clarification, did Russia just did what I think they did. If so, all I can say is the propensity for Japan to suck up to the USA is going to be the literally end of the nation especially since Japan has never apologised for what they did for WW2 and NO, sending money and pretty words is NOT in away a way to earn forgiveness AT ALL

Not much of an issue anyway since they already sell to anyway willing to pay for it, whereas Russia now gets to be selective on who she sells her energy to.
Russia is not selective. unfriendly countries pay in roubles. and friendly what ever agreed currency.
on other hand Saudis will only sell at prices that are consistent with there $3.3T stock market. I think Saudis have stored enough wealth that they can wait for the buyers to show up at there prices. infact if a country has saudi owned refinery. they may give presence to take further bite from downstream price gouging.

Which is what I said - Those who can afford it buy from the Saudis; while Russia dictates who gets to buy with what currency, on her own terms. Those who have to pay in Roubles but don't want to, get no oil/gas.

Solomon Islands is never going to withstand against Western pressure, unless China steps up.

China worked on signing the deal with it, time for China to step up and share the pressure for it. You can't simply leave your partners in the cold, otherwise forget about making new partners in the future.

TLDR: Nobody likes a loser
Solomon Islands may not be able to withstand pressure from 5-eyes countries with or without China help but all those Pacific Island nations can no longer be taken for granted as someone's backyards or front yards.
