EU can do a lot worse (and more stupid too) than the current level of support to Ukraine.
No-fly zones, heavy armament, air planes ect. Even direct intervention.
Bascially a lot of escalating stuff demanding a Russian counterresponse.
Those things are direct intervention (which means actual hot conflict between Russia and NATO most likely).

Damn I hope they don't escalate this. Been seeing some news on twitter about NATO troops and assets being built up near the border of Ukraine. I'm afraid they might be planning an intervention which will easily lead to a nuclear war. God help us all.

I don't think they're doing it yet. otherwise all of that censorship and performative garbage wouldn't be needed. They also have no more reason to do it right now that they didn't have since the start.

Shat like that always drives me nuts. Newsweek is a right-leaning mag. Even under the current circumstances in which US needs China more the other way, they still put out propaganda bites such as:

(1) US tells (everybody what to do or not)
(2) China subordinates (they are not in my league)
(3) Grave consequences (we determine others' fate)

"See, we are still in charge; we are dealing with China from a position of strength"

I always think that China should tear down the Great Firewall so that the young generations can see in person the true colors of western propaganda against China (or anything Chinese). Those shat heads still don't get it that by majority of practical measures, China is already a larger economy than US. If they keep doing this for another 10 years and China gets hold of 7nm wafer fab, all bets would be fvcking off.
I think Great Firewall at this point only exists to basically prevent the dregs of society from taking hold. I don't think keeping out western influence is a primary objective. Everyone who wants to knows VPNs, everyone has some relative or friends overseas, travel is pretty open. Even if you never leave China, it's not like western brands are banned or anything.

The government does not want Chinese versions of Pizzagate, "My Pillow" guy, Flat Earth, etc. etc. FLG is/was enough.

This is my theory.

That's the thing with constant incremental escalations. Eventually that seemingly unthinkable point is reached and everybody will wonder how because every step seemed the right one by either side at the time.

I actually worry that the economic MAD back and forth between the West and Russia might spiral more out of control than the hot war currently on Ukrainian soil.

People talk about what is Putin's exit strategy in Ukraine, I think the question can now be directed to the US (I'm neglecting EU because they'll do whatever the US tell them to do). What is Biden's exit strategy I wonder? If he does not get what he wants without escalation, will he go all in?

Why would Biden care? The economic damage is mostly towards the EU. Yes the US will suffer too, but it will be a lot less pain than the EU will get.

If the US can successfully pass this hurdle, I see this as a big win for the US (minus the SWIFT dollar/euro sanctions)

I previously thought US has already gotten all they want out of this, but the recent Biden's talk of regime change sort of changed my mind
