Multiple media outlets are reporting this. Look like a leak from the US before the meeting to force China to give some assurance or promise.

As the biggest trading nation on Earth, China has large trade volume with most nations. Chinese trade are done on the basis of her domestic needs and not for "helping" others. As such, China will trade, procure, sell as needed with her trade partners as usual.

Any form of interference with be dealt with accordingly.

A refreshing, pragmatic outlook from one of America's premiere "realpolitik" theorists, and practioner, Zbigniew Brezenski.

Here's his interesting though on Putin, the Russian leadership, historical high regard of herself as a country and why in my opinion, it's embarked on this last hurrah of desperation move against the collective west, namely U.S./NATO

Brezenski's appreciation of Chinese leadership and it's strategic approach in central Asia, the South China Sea, the U.S. approach in arming it's neighbours namely, India and Vietnam.

China's foresight with respect to it's One Belt, One Road Initiative that are able to make inroads in the former stans that used be a part of USSR.

Brezenski has passed away. Once Kissinger dies the US will have no worthwhile strategist, not that they listen to Kissinger anyway.

In any case, not a good thing for the US to say when they are going to have an upcoming meeting with China

They have been doing the same nonsense since the first meeting in Anchorage.

Sanction China a day before meeting.
Leak of China doing XXX before meeting.
Flying to nations near China to build up courage before meeting.

Yang is in Rome now, the outcome of the meeting will be available in hours, does anyone expect any surprise? basically the US is threatening that if China refuses to play along with the sanctions, China will face the consequences.
No, Americans don't have leverages. They can act tough and put on a brave face but they got nothing to threaten China with or they could offer anything to China to change its mind. Europeans can't afford to antagonize China at the moment unless they want a collapse of their economies.

If Americans are desperate for a win, MSM could go overdrive to fabricate one after the meeting. However, I am doubtful China is even willing to give Americans that because China needs to appear supportive of Russia and not abandoning its ally in time of need..

@KYli spot on bro, after reading the tea leaf Wang Yi may have to call Blinken Bluff on this one...lol They just don't know when to stop embarrassing themselves, That's what you get from an Ideolog instead of a stateman. Brandon isn't minding the house and his incompetent subordinate are ruining it from the Inside.

A more fundamental reading from my pov :

1. Ukraine conflict is due to US-led NATO expansionism. Russia hit back to defend themselves.
2. US and EU allies sanction Russia, thereby imposing cost on Russia's retaliation.
3. Sanctions have cost, in form of repercussion on US and EU economies. A loophole exist in form of China, who 1. not only in position to keep Russian economy alive, but 2. take advantage by filling in the gap left by western mncs.

West I China
Want : Uphold Hegemony I Want : More trade and opportunities(this is what russia need too)
Cost : Economy damage I Cost : Nil

Not only is US demanding China to give up on her basic right to trade with Russia, US is expecting China to share the cost of what essentially an act of sustaining US hegemony.

If China yield to the demand of US, this is equal to submitting to US hegemony.

Pretty sure China already sees this coming and already has a response ready in that China can reduce trade in dollars with Russia…… only to increase trade in their rmb and ruble currencies instead. Besides if China were to decouple from the USA, wouldn’t China benefit more in that they don’t need to supply the USA with goods for toilet paper I mean what can China buy for US dollars right now honestly. Plus their is a side benefit of dealing a real harsh blow to the USA that it is unlikely to sustain at the time where inflation is running hot and resources in the USA a running low. Someone should really shut blinken up

Yang will tell him to pound sand and then return to China.

The sanctions are used to upheld western hegemony. If China doesn't like Western hegemony then why should it want to participate in these sanctions which helps the West with zero benefit to China?

Instead, a better move would be for China to start increasing its export prices. Time to twist the knife
