Yes, I removed a portion of my post that mentioned that HK can't really claim anything but Cantonese culture AT BEST. I think due to the sheer number of refugees, Taiwan has a pretty decent cross section of people from the whole country. IMO, the main issue is the culture war being waged by the DPP.

The culture in Taiwan is mainly civil-war era gentry-class culture from Beijing and Shanghai, plus Fujian culture from later immigration waves, mixed with native Taiwanese culture from before the civil war.

This misses a lot of the folk culture from Mainland. The folk culture in Taiwan comes from native Taiwanese culture.

Then there's also the religious culture. Taiwan religious culture, where it's not western Christianity, is mostly southern Chinese.

I'm not reading anything of substance in there. Just a lot of empty rhetoric and magnifying a few isolated incidents in order to criticize the entire system.

BTW, WeChat operates on a reporting system. If her post got taken down, then it's because a lot of people reported it.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Friday, before the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, the Kremlin has announced.

Asked by a reporter, on Wednesday, if the crucial summit will place before or after the ceremony, spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied: “No, before (the ceremony).” He specified that it is planned for “sometime in the middle of the day, Beijing time.” No press conference has been scheduled and only a short introductory part of the negotiations will be made public.

Putin is one of just a few world leaders set to attend the Olympics as several major Western countries, including the US and Australia, have declared a diplomatic boycott over China’s alleged human rights record.

The summit between Putin and Xi, their first face-to-face meeting in more than two years, comes at a dramatic time when Russia is facing significant pressure from the US and NATO over claims it plans to invade eastern Ukraine – something which Moscow vehemently denies.
This situation, along with Russia’s recent security proposals and bilateral agenda matters, such as trade, investment, space projects, and energy, is expected to be discussed by the two leaders.

I hope they sign the agreement for Power of Siberia 2

I stopped reading it before finishing the 2nd chapter. It is loaded BS. Here is why, I will quote some

Chapter 1

She is crying that people in Wuhan and Xian is suffering and worrying about herself in Beijing. Again she is demanding China to do nothing but follow what the "free world" is doing, to let people including herself and her family to die for free.

What does people's fear of disease have anything to do with "positive energy"? As if stay positive is the scary killer, not the virus.

Chapter 2

This "pandemic dairy" is speaking for FangFang. The author is demanding the "right" to lie. "putting into mental hospital", did she actually suffered it? If not, she is fabricating.

Here she is "crying" for the pregnant woman's death in Xi'an as if the 890K dead Americans are just flies.

My conclusion, she should be sent to Taklamakan to plant trees.

Currently reading The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire to prepare myself
SIX VOLUMES ONLY

By EDWARD GIBBON

His most important work, The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, was published in six volumes between 1776 and 1788.

I wish that I have the courage, time and dedication to start reading those Six volume thick books... hopefully though dare not to commit, hardly read any complete book in latest years.
