Just some correction and my personal experience.

That is a myth made by people in HK and ROC/Taiwan just to feel their superiority. They preserved something that mainlanders dropped, but they also picked up lots of western staff that mainlanders do not. For example, many of them have themselves addressed by English names even within HK and Taiwan. I don't think a person having this kind of mentality can preserve any traditions in spirit, perhaps some superficials.

It is 新华/新華, meaning "New China". I guess it was a typo.

Regarding simplified characters. It is an outright lie by ROC government, namely Chiang Kaishek. Simplified Chinese characters were first introduced by ROC in mainland in 1935. See the order from ROC Education Ministry. ROC was not able to fully implement it due to the wars. When PRC was established and began to implement it, Chiang Kaishek wanted to maintain a significant difference, so ROC abandoned simplified characters and began the lie of it preserving Chinese culture.

国语 (national speech) is unacceptable because it makes Standard Mandarin above any other Chinese dialects and any other minority languages in a multi-national state. Standard Mandarin is a speech to facilitate convenience of communication, but should not carry any more meanings than that. I also don't see why a naming change(due to politics) would affect its underlying culture.

That is very strange, I don't know who in mainland China would actually enjoy that. But tell you experiences from all my friends from mainland, when we go to any Chinese restaurants abroad, we only pick the restaurant that has mainland chef. More than that, if we want Sichuan food, the chef has to be from Sichuan, or Shanghai chef for Shanghai food.
Actually, I edited some of the post because I think it was too long and became too much like a history lesson. The more lecturing, the more I'm bound to be called out, lol.

I agree with just about everything you said. I didn't know ROC had the simplified plan as well, but yes, keeping the traditional characters was definitely a reactionary move.

With regards to the restaurants thing. This article must be at least 15 years old. I didn't even bother looking for it. I even said OLD article originally. Many of these guys were from the mainland, but they left. They were just being paid to go back again. Another thing that was mentioned was the fact that learning Chinese cooking is not very institutionalized like French cooking and the Cordon Bleu school for example. It is full of family secret recipes, etc.

You're ignoring the fact that both Taiwan and HK represent only a tiny part of Chinese culture. Only in Mainland China can you find the full breadth and depth of Chinese history and traditions.

Yes, I removed a portion of my post that mentioned that HK can't really claim anything but Cantonese culture AT BEST. I think due to the sheer number of refugees, Taiwan has a pretty decent cross section of people from the whole country. IMO, the main issue is the culture war being waged by the DPP.

Almost like they are creating a fake war as pretext to take the worlds energy

Cannabalization of the rest of the world via underhanded covert destabalization and fermenting of chaos....

The color is inspired by a Northern Song Dynasty painting 千里江山图 see below. The dress of the lead dancer is closer to Han Dynasty 曲裾深衣, one piece of cloth wrapping the whole body. The hair style is popular in 魏晋南北朝 (between Han and Sui), especially the northern dynasty (mural paintings). Remember this is an artistic creation, not a reproduction of any specific era, so lots of things are brought in.

Its quite exciting watching in real time such a historic event as an empire collapsing from within.

I always read in history books about how empires collapsed or declined and I couldnt figure out exactly how their elites allowed that to happen.
But the last decade watching the US collapsing from within is truly an eye opener. I will be able to say to my grandkids how it felt to be living when the hegemon collapsed into nothingness

Exactly my feelings as well.
