There were plenty of legitimate reasons for the protest to actually be natural but yep, the 3rd demand immediately exposes the US footprint. They are not even being subtle anymore.
Colour revolution or not, Kazakhstan government is still seriously incompetent. How can you have so much gas and still allow domestic gas price to double in just 1 year..

Really, call me crazy, but in front of such incompetence I side with protesters. I would like to see Russia safeguarding Kazakhstan from outside interference but still allowing the protests to go on (non-interference in internal affairs)

China should stay out of this mess. When the government is so stupid to allow gas prices to double then China has nothing to win by siding with such idiots. Let them sort their own stuff and China will simply talk with whoever comes on top

The country has a huge border with Xinjiang! It did not benefit china to have a Ukraine near it's borders. I agree china shouldn't do anything publicly but behind the scenes should help Russia stabilize the country.

Imagine it becoming a US Vassel and joining NATO? Very unlikely but nightmare scenario.

It was worse actually, the price doubled in one day - i.e. basically it was along the lines of "Starting from January 1, the cost of gas will be 120 tenge (Kazakh currency) instead of 60 tenge". No wonder the people started protesting, it is a case of ruling oligarchs overextending.

But why was the government too stupid and incompetent enough not to tend the pressing needs and complaints of the people about the energy prices that's being used as an alibi for what's essentially revolution. The CIA operational playbook can only be effective if the situation on the ground are primed and ripe for destabilization.

As I have contended before and increasingly believe that regardless of anyone's countries internal security apparatus if the people wants a revolution or wants to kick out their government they will and can replace the existing order. Which means that unfortunately for the idiots of the west the people in China do support their government and system overwhelmingly. If the Chinese people were unhappy no amount of security can stop them from replacing the government unless the government is prepared to butcher their own in mass quantities which would only hasten the demise of the party and system. The system is the party, and the party is the people so this nonsense will not be coming anytime soon as long as the party delivers and serve the people's interest first and foremost. Hopefully, future Chinese party leaders will not forget this important mantra.
The problem with that is even good governments make some mistakes. Look what happened at the start of the covid outbreak and the initial CCP response. Or with a more sinister ending, the popular movement in Libya. How many Libyans prefer the mess today compared to what they had with Gaddafi?

It is clear that the CIA can leverage popular movements which were founded with legitimate grievance and turn them into a tool of US foreign political chess.

No doubt the CIA have been infiltrating Kazakhstan for decades. It seems they've bought off the police forces and security apparatus. I wonder how long before the Jihadis start appearing.

I remember that as soon as the report of one of the doctors about the unusual number of pneumonia cases was confirmed, the government notified WHO (30th of December iirc), started monitoring the situation, sequenced the virus, and developed testing kits. When the h2h transmission was confirmed and cases started rising quickly, Wuhan was locked down. Pretty good response if you ask me. Compare that to Western nations not taking this seriously and thinking in a typical yt racist way that "it is yellow people's disease", and then getting absolutely crushed by the COVID and their desperate clutching for straws to shift the blame from their own incompetence and white supremacism that led to their extremely poor response. Most of the Asian nations, however, were able to control the spread far better while working with exactly the same information as Western countries. The whole blame game is just a direct result of Western culture of saving face ;)

Indeed. The virus was a black swan event. The response was IMO satisfactory.

Meanwhile, setting up a date when gas prices would double overnight was a malicious decision taken by the government in Kazakhstan.

The first case, is ok. The second case is, time to use some guillotines for the oligarchs in Kazakhstan
