Between a SK brand and a German brand, I don't see why Chinese should prefer the Korean one except for personal taste. I don't believe anything "race", to me Korean and Asian are no more/less preferable than German and European. Not accusing you for anything, but just saying. And we should stay clear from this kind of thing. :)

From the styling perspective, Genesis is pretty similar to an Audi A7 sportback.

Genesis undercuts A7s tremendously on price point and yet with superior interiors.

I do believe there's a reason China is promoting masculinity. You don't want to head into a superpower conflict with effeminate looking men and a culture predicated on singers and dancers

I would say Genesis looks more like a RS than an A or S Audi ;)

How come 6.2% inflation doesn't seem to worry them so much while fuel prices does? Is it Oil Shock PTSD?

Diminishing EROEI is the reason why money is losing its purchasing power value and the reason all the printing happened in the very first place... money is merely a proxy for energy and for the future ability of energy resources to do work...

Now they are tapping into energy reserves to try to bring the price of it down? That's like shuffling chairs on the deck of the sinking Titanic... all the fat has been cannibalized and now its onto the muscles, brain and heart...

Its game over

Ah, yeah, this. Where was EROEI when oil was priced negatively last year?

EROEI has nothing to do with price, its purely an energy concept of energy returns on energy inputted into the system to extract energy out of a new discovered resource... (last years temporary demand destruction due to worldwide shutdown is not a reflection of the global EROEI of primary energy sources....)
Governments can and have been subsidizing ethanol which was always a net energy sink, that doesn't mean it creates a net energy boom for society...why do you think fracking in the US has never been profitable in the long run? EROEI of it is marginal or negative... while short term price signals can be misleading or altogether irrelevant, in the long runs one cannot use economics to cheat the laws of physics.

I understand the conservation of energy. I also understand that there's energy and there's energy. Energy in the form of electricity is not economically equivalent to energy in liquid fuel.

Well electricity is an energy carrier not an energy source. Just like batteries, capacitors, etc are energy carriers but they ultimately rely on an energy source like coal, nuclear, oil, natural gas, etc to be created and converted into electric form of energy in the first place.
The idea behind EV being more "green" than ICE cars is because the coal plants that produce the electric power is large of scale and more efficient than individual car engines running oil... the same way you wouldn't power your house with a couple of Honda inverter generators because it would cost you far more and create way more pollution than the power you get from the grid even if the source is a dirty coal burning plant.

Globally, energy production and consumption peaked back in 2019. (global hydrocarbon discovery curved peaked a long time ago, but the consumption will be the laggard) So in terms of big picture, global total aggregate of primary energy as a whole, we have prepared for the energy transition way too late..... and now are inside of the energy trap trying to climb out of it.... and it doesn't look good... Unlike the Thucydides Trap which is political, there is no outsmarting the energy trap of entropy and 2nd law of thermodynamics...

China will fare much better than America when it comes to this, but none will be spared and all will be hurting...

Price factor is true. Name wise is far away. I can't say for others, but I am one of the "vanity" people who paid a big price for Audi and will do so again. :D It is just like a Swiss made watch is no more accurate than Citizen or Seiko quatz wathes, but you know.

I honestly have no idea what does this masculinity have anything to do with car styling and luxury. All the "sissy" trends in China in the past 20 years are imported from SK. How could Genesis, a SK brand, which is of same style of German brand has any impact that you desire.

On the subject of car branding/labeling, RS is just an S with higher horsepower. S is just an A with extra options. Don't be fooled into beliving their naming/numbering means anything, sporty and masculinity that you may attach to. They are just sales tricks.

One can take a basic A, adding those options and reach the same price range of S. Except the dealer won't give you some of the options and force you to buy an S with higher price. Example, if A4 starts at 100hp and ends at 200hp, RS4 would start at 180hp and ends at 350hp. An A4 rating at 200hp plus all the bling-blings will be exactly a RS4 of 200hp. So exact that every component is the same serial. I learnt this when I bought my Audi and was told by Audi sales woman. Example, a S4 of same configuration as an A4+ would be 20000 RMB more expansive, but identical inside. Genisis is playing exactly that same trick.
