Given the amount of hard power China has achieved over the last 40 years, it should have a lot more soft power by now.

Other Asian countries should already be in China’s orbit given its similarities in culture, geographic proximity, and economic interdependence. Yet that hasn’t happened.

In order for China to obtain real soft power other than just economic admiration, it needs to comprehensively surpass the West, especially the US. That’s going to take a long while, if ever.

And if given a choice between well governed Liberal Democracy and Communism one party rule, most people of the world would probably choose the former, including many Chinese people.
Sadly its because is Chinese and not white or anglo...

Recall in US history only group ever singled out based on national origin was the Chinese , see Chinese Exclusion Act

In real life, the white westerners dont actually like fair competition or want level playing fields and they sure as heck dont like seeing a comeback kid whom they had sliced and carved to pieces a century of humiliation ago...

Modern China is the only challenger and real contender to not only US but to the entire Western hegemony.

Ancient China was also on top for thousands of years...they know China did it before and as the longest largest continous civilization can and will do it again

China of the last 40 years grew at rate unmatched in mankinds history and set to overtake USA in all domains... this is what have them in sudden panic

This is what flares up their racisms its deeply rooted hatred of being bested by what they once considered not even fully human

So of course PR parlor tricks will be in full swing. Racisms against Chinese will only get worse as the decline of US, EU, West accelerates. This to be expected

China is teasing the western media.
It looks that way to me, I'm wondering how it will play out from here. If CGTN and GT actually got together and planned this out it would have been quite the operation.

If it was planned I'm guessing we will see a few more days of nothing happening as they wait for western media to double down before dropping anything else.

As I said, we need to agree to disagree.
Well, I was hoping you'd disagree with some arguments rather than simply state that you like it another way but if that's what you got, then yeah, we're now there.
You have personal preferences whether China needs to improve its PR or not, and I do too.
But mine is based on analysis of how the world works and yours seems to be based on a personal fear of being disliked.
I am still not convinced with all your points that China does not need to improve its public relations as so far China did the opposite of what you suggest.
I already see that China is keep improving its public relations, like going global with CGTN or CCTV. Many reporters from those medias also creating youtube/twitter accounts to voice their opinions to create China's image.
The argument was about whether China needs to do more than what it's already doing, and I said no. I didn't say that China should do nothing. There are plenty of Chinese people in China and in other countries as well as people from fairer countries that don't have a dog in the West vs. China fight, who benefit from China's mouthpieces.
Chinese companies also inviting many foreigners to many cities in China and to promote Chinese cities in the youtube channel.
That is for tourism money.
As the case if youtube/twitter got shutdown, China can start to promote from TikTok or maybe WeiBo can go global too, like DouYin/TikTok.
They do do that. I'm seeing a trend where you suggest something might happen after it has already happened. Perhaps you are not updated on the recent efforts and thus think they are not doing enough.

Because you have this strong desire or assumptions that if China only acts accordingly a.k.a. abide and follow the U.S. command China too can enjoy being liked and admired by white people and Chinese people like you who lives in the west (if you're Chinese) wouldn't find it aggravating or even stressed out living in the west. If China can only leave Taiwan alone and give up the island thereby allowing the U.S. and her allies to station troops, missiles, and even nukes while China does nothing but smile and accept the events in a fetal position. Hey, at least white people will like me and am not being demonized in every western media including YouTube especially from folks like Asianboss and those 2 losers that sh..s on China like their lives depend on it. China should also allow Tibet to separate, allow India to encroach and settle into Chinese territories and shouldn't do anything about it if it wants to be liked and to ensure people like you will have this warm fuzzy feelings of comfort. How about giving up the Chinese claims in the South China Sea thereby allowing every bogus claimants to have a feast which will essentially further isolate China and will hamper it's ability to properly defend itself in the future if it awakens from the sheer stupidity being proposed here. How about allowing the CPC to be displaced and be destroyed ushering the new and improved chaos 3.0 only this time the west will ensure that it'll balkanize China into different countries to ensure that it'll never rise again as a potential challenger to American and western way of life. All these changes China must do in order for it to be liked and admired by the very people you seem to want to placate and for you to feel warm and fuzzy about being liked. These are the realities on the ground nothing short of these key things happening where you'll see China being liked to your satisfaction am sorry to say.
These past few pages, some members said words like dumb, white worshipper, drug dealer, etc. I think I have been quite restraint and not doing name calling. This reply from you is another accusation as if I want a weak China, if you have time to read through my past posts from 2013 up to this day, during China-Japan conflict (Diaoyu/Senkaku dispute), China-India conflicts (Doklam and Ladakh), Hong Kong protests and recently about Taiwan independence movement, hopefully you can see where my position is. A strong China is what I think we can agree with but we have different approach, you can have your opinion and I can have mine.

Youtube is already CIA controlled...

Trump was going to shutdown TikTok by having Google and Apple delist the app

Twitter/Fb is US controlled... all the .com TLDs are under US jurisdiction...

There is no easy shortcut unless you think China should cave to US in Plaza Accord 2.0 and get some cheesy anime soft power recognition or be a US stooge Jai Hind style..

China has a long march ahead of it, needs to master the entire stack from EUV to its own software and platform ecosystems... thats not gonna happen overnight

Until then, any "win" in PR China makes will just get easily shutdown by the US anyway...
