Doesnt hurt to expel him from the party and strip him of his pension. We have done that to other members of Politburo in the past. I'm assuming CCDI is already on this. Hopefully the investigation concludes shortly and we hear an outcome.

It's a matter of proportionality. Having an affair in no ways justifies expulsion from the party.

Look, Xi offered a deal years ago. Don't do new shit and I'll let old shit pass. Going after retired officials for past affairs breaks the bargain.

What's the deal with her and the former high ranking CPC politician that was apparently closes to Pres.Xi? She has made a very serious allegation that she was a victim of some kind of sexual harassment a.k.a. a me too movement in China and this time it's against a former high ranking official.

Why can't the government actually stand by their pledge of rooting out corrupt and horny officials like this fella who had an illicit and illegal affair with Peng Shuai? Now, because of her supposed u turn and lack of clarity regarding her whereabouts China as a whole is being dragged through the mud again from the usual suspects in the west and this time it's a little juicy due to the official's high ranked status within the CPC.
It's just alot of wild speculations in the outside world, just cuz the affected lady isn't standing by live on camera to say hello I'm okay so they think she has been locked up or killed or something similarly silly. Same case with fan bing bing and Jack ma etc. After few weeks when they turn up on camera, the China bashers will forget it ever happened and the cycle repeats.

I'm not sure how the Chinese government can be privy to all the corruptions or affairs of its officials. If the central gov gets wind of something big I'm sure they will investigate. Under Xi, anti corruption is much more serious.

That's simply not true. Many retired officials were caught and put under investigations. The followings are just some of cases reported this year.

I don't know the details of these cases. 2018 is definitely after the deal. And the 2015 guy turned himself in. A retired official can still engage in corruption through a network of patronage after the retirement. My guess is his network was exposed so he turned himself in. No sense for a guy to turn himself in 6 years after retirement for conducts while in office.

She’s likely under house arrest and told not to speak to the press.

AFAIK, Xi has never issued any kind of blanket amnesty or so called "bargains" for retired officials. You made an extraordinary claim without any sources.

Since you found the 2015 example not convincing enough, here is another one concerning an official who retired in 2014 and he didn't turn himself in. He was caught last year.
