The meeting you and Temstar are referring to happened last year, check the date of the article. Nothing to do with Meng's release. There was another meeting at the Whitehouse recently among the leaders of the Quad.

The US public in actuality could care little about China or even foreign policy. Most people are too caught in their daily life to care for such things beyond a passing interest. It is the US elites that flame tensions and they use the media to make the public hostile towards China.
It is a true statement that US public actually are not interested in any foreign policy. The problem is that the ruling elites have been brainwashing the public with FUD and then using the public fear for their domestic agenda. As a result, the US public blindly generate some bias or even hatred toward China or ethnic Chinese, and fuel stereotypes and even racism against ethnic Chinese. The biggest problem is that we all live on the same small planet. When the US elites finally make Americans and Chinese hate each other, the world would be on its way to hell.

Yeah, true that these media outlets have a lot of control, but even they have no control over the true economy nor do they have any control over the welfare of the people. By lying far too much and on an increasing level of gravity in regards to these lies means that any solution to the problems they have will have near to no possibility of being translated to the public as the covid crisis now shows. And with the government using the media to mask the gravity of the current situation with racism and hatred, the moment the system comes crashing down, the media will then become its own worse enemy in that nothing they can hope to do will unite the nation in the face of a nation destroying adversity when the unity and will of the nation is needed the most. Look at China at the result of what happens when the nation is united. Multiple Covid outbreaks defeated in a matter of weeks repeatedly without any real incident whereas the western world, the very seat of democracy is basically letting themselves be destroyed without any external input because the elites and wealthy have put themselves ahead of the people. They should realize that in the event that the nation collapses under its own weight, these elites and their media powers at that moment will essentially become useless because the results will speak for itself when most of the population are wiped out because the media in the USA refuses to do the right thing and tell the truth. Notice how CNN keeps on parroting the government line while fox news is parroting conspiracy theories none stop with both of them proving very little objectivity in between. Heck, any thing the government, specifically Biden delivers nowadays in a speech has so many dislikes on youtube that is it almost unbelievable a decade ago. Very soon, a civil war could break out and then all these controls will fail them completely.
If the USA has its people united under a banner of truth and real justice against China, maybe they may have a chance to turn the tide but right now with all the lies and division that the USA has right now, all China needs to do is simply outlast the USA and let there hatred destroy themselves so that China can easily go down in history as the undisputed winner in this struggle against the west, all of which is down purely through the west repeated shooting themselves in the dick and not having the honor of going down in a fight like the USA would have preferred and quite frankly pride themselves on. If doesn't get anymore humiliating then that and ultimately the ending that the USA thoroughly deserves at this point.
