NBC covering Mach Industries. Similar to Anduril, this company envisions selling "cheap" drones to the US military for use against enemies like China. China has become a buzzword these days for military startups asking for funding and contracts.
The 21-year old CEO of Mach Industries, Ethan Thornton envisions swarms of cheap drones flying over populated areas (in China) to deliver their payload to destroy civilian infrastructure and factories. The objective is to shut down China's industries. So the new generation of US elites are dropping the "good guys" pretense. They are openly talking on mainstream media about targeting Chinese civilians to win a war. Depravity or copium? Maybe its both.

Anduril and Mach have been talking big about fighting an industrial drone war against the largest producer of drones and rare earths on the planet. The last time a smaller industrial power attacked a bigger industrial power and murdered its civilians, it didn't end well for the smaller one.
This kid does have some good ideas. Using massive amounts of low cost weapons to overwelm a small numbers of high tech and very expensive systems. And disperse your production facilities so they can't be taken out with just a few hits.

However I also think that what he is trying to do will not work. The US simply lacks the resources to compete against China in the long run. Especially when it comes to manpower and money. China graduates about 8 times the number of STEM students and twice the number of PhD's. I have heard about emigration and H1B visas. It doesn't matter you are not going to win a numbers game against China. And the Chinese saves up to 40 percent of their income while the Americans only saves about 3 to 5 percent of their income.

China also has structural advantages. China's economy is driven mainly by production while the US economy is driven mainly by speculation. And the Chinese value science, technology and industry much more than Americans in general. As China in the past was repeatedly defeated because its lacks the technological and industrial means to let her people prosper domestically and defend herself when attack from abroad.

At the end of the 1970s two things happened almost simultaneously in the world. China began to transition its economy from a command economy to a market economy. And the US began to transition its economy from a industrial economy to a services economy.

The result is today China is a industrial superpower and the US is a hedge fund with nukes.

It is "on par" on paper, but it is untested in battle though.

Ukraine uses some of the same defense system that Israel uses. Israel has an 95+% interception rate the first few days until ammo is dwindling.

China's Offensive weapon- good
Defensive-- unsure.
Ukraine is relying on ground radar and any thing that NATO can help with it from outside Ukraine borders. Ukraine has zero intercept of anything like Oniks (Odessa right next to Nato radars), Kh-32 or Kinzal. and the subsonic missiles if there are any will be with in visual range and even that they cannot produce evidence.
Israel has GaN high altitude AWACS with coverage extending all the way to Iran. there are much advance radars in Israel possession on ground and Iran certainly not have air force that give it real time coverage from side looking airborne radars like those in Su-34M or increasingly from Su-57.

These guys are genius -
Interestingly, these guys don't have a very good reputation on the Chinese internet.

Their projects are essentially the equivalent of graduation projects for ordinary STEM undergraduates, but they're packaged as innovative projects through topic-setting, language guidance, and special effects.

Just like the American startups that can be seen everywhere on X, which actually do nothing but keep using the trend keywords like AI or LLM

Trying to envision flying drones into China to cause mass destruction like this at 21 years old means this freak is a lost cause, as though innocent lives is only existing for this bastards profit margin. This should be grounds for in the event of an any kind of fight between China and the USA which the USA will obviously start that this person should be made into a high value target for extermination. The USA seems to think they can deliver mass death to civilians of other nations without consequence like they have for the last half century, sure one day when the reverse happens, said enemies will make it their priority to return sure actions with extreme interest but what do I know, the USA is currently full of hubris and have no concept of karma or even worse thing that God himself blesses them. Almost ripe for something bad to happen to them

Even though I've been fully aware of CPV wouldn't join the US to attack China regardless of the reddit experts , I was always afraid of the US influence to Vietnam from the the SoCal AZN Baby Gurl w the Chanel/LV bags and the guys flexing their lifestye which could lead to a color revolution attempt. Apparently the CPV are aware and cracking down. The population is relearning about the recent war against colonialism. Now, the hip derogatory term is to call someone a "Cali"

The irony is anti-communist Vietnamese in the US have no problem going back to Vietnam to spend money to feel like kings there. If they were so anti-communist, they shouldn't be going back to Vietnam to spend their money there which I hear so many stories of Vietnamese in the US that do. Like I see with Chinese and other Asians that are pro-US/West, they bark loudly but they don't know what they are suppose to stand for means.

Hearing now the insecurity from US military tech bros because of the parade. Good luck finding the money for this guy’s idea of launching millions of drones onto China’s factories. Maybe he misspoke being a child acting like an adult but millions of $400,000 drones aren’t cheap.
Producing millions of obsolete drones is not a good idea. I suspect only China has the capability to ramp up the production of drones on demand, and keeps upgrading and improving these drones continuously during the process.

This is not from The Onion.

Why? Costco stores sell plutonium?

This is bad news. I think China has to work on their defense system more. First it was the HQ9 defense system for Pak that didn't shoot down Brahmos on many occasions.

Only the offensive system seems to be working as expected.

What kind notion does "Defence Blog" try to convey? Saudis are such raging idiots who bought the weapon system from China without rigorously testing it beforehand?

I didn't know that Western sanctions killed so many in the Global South.

Well, it makes sense now.
