there is an internal balance in Singapore. CNA bashes China and glorifies the West while Lianhe Zaobao supports China and attacks the West. George Yeo and Kishore support China and condemn the West while Bilahari and Colin Koh bash China and worship the West. The government allows both to happen (all of these guys are government-adjacent and couldn't possibly speak so openly without permission) so that there is always someone available to play suck up to any party no matter who gets the upper hand

Can a drone destroy a canal?
Direct personel bombing might be the only option. I'm not sure how a canal can even be bombed? Maybe target the locks, but that seems quickly repairable? Best option might be to target some large vessels inside the canal so they get stuck like that one vessel that jammed the Suez Canal.
