Looks like the USA is coaxing/forcing the G7 to join the USA trade war against China. Lots of articles about how China can survive a trade war with the USA. How much pain would it be if it was a trade war with the G7?
It already happened under Biden and all US allies' economies are on the brink. The big guy, the US, is now feeling the pain of just their own tariff on all the cheap stuff they get from China. At least Europe knows they still need inexpensive stuff from China and that's why they're still trying to engage with China. They still need China to buy all the stuff from them that China can get anywhere else. That's the dilemma they put themselves in. The significant trade they use to have was advanced technology that China didn't have but because of the US, under Biden, they can't sell it to China but they somehow think China is suppose to make up the difference they lost in trade by expecting China to buy more stuff that China can get cheaper from anywhere else. They f*cked themselves over.

In regards to Asia, lets be truthful and say Asians put more value into money more than other things except maybe their image. That's why they'll end up finding a way to make money from things they're expected not to. Look at how Taiwan was selling chips through fronts to China. The Vietnamese supposedly hate the Chinese but they still want to make money from them. Why would Japan demand China buy and eat their radioactive fish? The Japanese with their cultural image of cleanliness don't understand why? Asians aren't going to stop making money from China no matter what the US tells them.

On top of everything else, the US isn't opening it's market to anyone even their own allies. Biden didn't do it. And Trump built his entire narrative on how the world even allies are ripping off the US. If the US had unlimited money as they like to tell the world, they wouldn't have worry about trade imbalances with the rest of the world... but Trump is. The US will have to pay way more than they can imagine to buy off the world not to trade with China. The US would have to pay tens of billions of dollars to each country to get them not to trade with China and the current narrative says they won't. So where are the US's allies going to have to make money from?

US imposed tariffs on G7, how are you going to convince them to sacrifice their trade relations with China in exchange for more tariffs from the US?

Japan's independence ended after WW2.
Many countries independence ended but Japan had both opportunity and support to be more independent.
Not sure that's a bad thing. China knows what a "sovereign Japan" looked like.
Sovereign Japan will decline even faster when developing late 20 and 21st military power. Japan was advanced because it was not Europe. Japanese mindset too close to Europe during Biden time so it may receive extra tightening of screws.
you wont understand the full context of this link unless you read Arabic but it shows backward Japanese thought process back in the day.

not just that, US can't pay them even if they wanted to. OK, let's say Japan and Vietnam get paid in USD to not trade with China. Who is going to take all that USD if they're banned from trading with China?

Each other? But why would they, both have more USD. Europe? But they get paid USD to not trade with China too. Russia? But they're sanctioned. Saudi Arabia? OK, they get more oil but then the oil price rises to a new equilibrium while during the rise, cheap oil destroys their EV industry so they'll forever be behind China.

Dude, if you want to decouple, just do it, none of this 75 day pause, 90 day delay, 180 day exemption.

Plus, you are dealing with the Chinese, they don't play these types of games.
By the time the deadline arrives, everyone would have moved to another issue, they would quietly remove this 'fee' entirely. Even if it comes up, everyone will be lapping it like Trump masterstroke.

They wear Trump-san's name on their heads like he is their god! ;)

Not only were they humiliated, they're so cucked, they couldn't even recognize the emasculation . . .

You make America sound like an ex-fiance who is still telling her family and friends that you two remain "madly in love" and will get married this summer "as planned" (once you agree to her demands for a more generous prenup), even though you have already blocked her number and will only communicate with her through your attorney. :p
Trump: "I told you they want to kiss my ass. No body knows ass kissing better than me!"

That was fascinating to watch. How can a people forget to speak their own language? The long term societal ramifications of this I can't even begin to fathom.

Towards the end one of the interviewees said if these loan words are used by Japanese people in everyday speech, then they are part of the Japanese language. E.g. while one would learn that pa-so-kon is the word for computer, many may neither know nor care that pasokon is short for "pasona konputa" the Japanified pronunciation for "personal computer".

Long term depends on whether US gets chased out of Asia or continues to dominate Japan.
