No. It always get stupid and racist then everyone gets ban and the thread shutdown. They should bring back a funny thread but without the anti--indian type stuff since it always go down the toilet
Then the mods should just create a new funny thread and be specific in the first post what is allowed and whats not allowed. At least then most users by design will know the limits since its stated at the start. There will always be a few who don't get it but most will know.

At this point it is about as realistic as North Korea's yearly statement of wiping US out. With correspondingly Pyongyang's electricity not working...

But hey NK can talk shit all day because they're not the highest up nation in their alliance network, when push comes to shove, they can just rely on being carried. US can't, so I'd advice them on being more humble and focusing on fixing domestic matters first.

It might be irrelevant or rather minimal. Global Thorium reserves excluding China is already at 4 million tons with undiscovered deposits scattered everywhere. The study identified 233 Thorium rich zones in China on top of the newly discovered 1 million tons (previous reserves was 280k). Eyes are on reactor development.

It's relevant because it means China can achieve energy independence.

the Gaza ceasefire has ended.

Israel resumes airstrikes in Gaza

Israel has resumed airstrikes in Gaza following the collapse of talks with Hamas over the release of the remaining hostages and the implementation of the ceasefire.

In a statement in the early hours of Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they were “conducting extensive strikes on terror targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that the strikes are a response to “Hamas’s repeated refusal to release our hostages, as well as its rejection of all of the proposals it has received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and from the mediators.”

“Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,”
the prime minister’s office said.

More than 200 have been killed in the strip since hostilities resumed, Al Jazeera reported, citing authorities in Hamas-run Gaza. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported strikes in the central and southern parts of the densely populated enclave.

It's crazy how Americans completely forgot they said and did the exact same thing against the Houthis barely 15 month ago under Biden.
It's as though they have an unnatural ability to memory hole humiliations.

It’s just Americans being enterprising!

Why must you only have one Mission Accomplished? Why not 15 months after the first one dropped, you release Mission Accomplished 2, then Mission Accomplished 3 etc . You can make a whole Mission Accomplished expanded universe! Think of the movie rights and toy revenues!

Finally, when the people finally gets bored and fed up with endless spin-offs, just do franchise reboots with Job Done! And start the whole cycle again! Profits!

I'm no economist, but I'm not seeing how "new offshore trade" is any better than outsourcing.

Just my impression.

The term outsourcing usually means to find the product somewhere else, not using nearby or own capabilities as alternatives.

Apple, they outsource everything.

What seems to be happening here, as Goldman referred to, is more like vertical integration and horizontal integration.

BYD, they are vertically integrated, because they own raw materials, to make the battery, for the electric car.

Now with global expansion, Chinese companies are not outsourcing, they are doing horizontal integration across borders.

One effect of this type of economic activity, the horizontal integration across borders, is that it spurs economic development and opens new markets. Since China is doing this across borders, this is a method of creating new markets and market access.

When we see Chinese brands of EVs on the roads of Brasil and Indonesia, as some recent article somewhere has reported, that is what is going on here.

Chinese companies are not abandoning Chinese manufacturing, like how Apple abandoned American manufacturing, Chinese companies want to globalize their businesses from production to sales.

This is just my impression, and I hope this is clear, because it is logical for the lean and mean and ultra competitive Chinese company to do that.

Go global Chinese style, build production capacity on foreign soil, then have the Chinese sales team do the selling for the local market.

Geez, I just realized I could have written this instead.

American outsourcing, get the Chinese to do it.

Chinese outsourcing, get the Chinese to do it.

That is exactly what is going on, but sometimes it is good to go over the details.

:D
