I think quite a people, me included, see that as the play, Trump and Musk even dog-whistled it both before and right after the election. In my very humble opinion it will be very hard to pull off since I believe this administration is underestimating the damages it wrought and overestimating the resilience of the American economy.

Since February 2024, all comments on U.S. Embassy Beijing’s official Weibo account have been “filtered” through an opaque process that we do not control. Only censor-approved comments are made visible to the public. We are not doing this. We welcome open public discourse and support free speech. We strongly object to censorship, including our followers’ comments being “filtered,” and the removal of our Weibo posts calling out such censorship. Our protest posts on Weibo exposing this censorship each reached over 1 Million views in under a day, before being removed by censors.

US embassy chinese weibo were getting roasted by leftover Chinese libs from the previous administration, probably angry their funding got cut.
