18 killed in Delhi stampede: High alert sounded, enquiry ordered | 10 Points​

A high alert has been sounded at all railway stations across Uttar Pradesh in view of the stampede at the New Delhi Railway station which claimed 18 lives on Saturday. A two-member committee has also been formed to probe the incident.​

A stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station claimed the lives of at least 18 people as thousands of Maha Kumbh devotees gathered to board trains. The death toll continues to increase as the injured persons are being treated at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital.
The incident occurred at around 10 pm on platforms 13 and 14 as "some of the passengers present on the platforms fainted due to this sudden rush, further leading to the rumours of a stampede-like situation", the Railways confirmed. "This led to panic and chaos. The situation was later controlled by easing the rush situation. The Northern Railways immediately dispatched four special trains in the wake of the unprecedented sudden rush. A high level enquiry has been ordered," it added.

Videos of the incident showed a massive crowd of passengers rushing through the railway station -- some carrying children on their shoulders, while others struggled with their luggage amid the chaos. Eyewitnesses recounted the horror and some claimed that there were no police personnel to control the crowd at the railway station.

That’s what decades of lack of nation planning and an inability to innovate in infrastructure does to a nation along with uncontrollable population growth. Also poor leadership plays a major part. I am not joking
