Chinese President Xi Jinping meets with National Assembly Speaker of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Woo Won-shik in Harbin
HARBIN, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the Republic of Korea National Assembly, who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games, in the afternoon of Feb. 7 at the Sun Island Hotel in Harbin.
Xi Jinping noted that over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-KOR relations have continued to develop, promoting cooperation between the two countries and contributing to regional peace and development. China's policy toward South Korea is stable. As uncertainties in the current international and regional situation increase, China and South Korea should work together to consolidate and develop the China-KOR strategic cooperative partnership. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the 80th anniversary of Korea's restoration, and the two sides should do a good job in commemorating the event. The two sides should deepen economic and trade relations that are intertwined and mutually beneficial, which is in the common interest of the two peoples. Humanistic exchanges should be enhanced and friendly feelings between the people should be strengthened. The two sides should support each other in organizing the APEC Leaders' Informal Meetings this year and next year.
Woo Won-shik said KOR-China cooperation has played an important role in the respective development of the two countries. Friendship with China is one of the cores of Korea's foreign policy and will not change. The KOR is willing to work with the Chinese side to push the KOR-China relations to a higher level in the new year. It is hoped that the two countries will strengthen economic and trade cooperation and maintain the stability of the global industrial chain supply chain. Expand people-to-people exchanges and enhance friendship. We will jointly commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and support each other in organizing the APEC Leaders' Informal Meetings this year and next.
