Xi Jinping and Colombian President Petro exchange congratulatory messages on 45th anniversary of China-Colombia diplomatic relations
BEIJING, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping and Colombian President Petro exchanged congratulatory messages on Feb. 7 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia, the two sides have always been guided by the principles of equal treatment and mutual respect, and have promoted the continuous development of bilateral relations.2023 In October, President Petro paid a successful state visit to China, and I held fruitful talks with Mr. President, jointly announcing that the two countries had established a strategic partnership, which has ushered the China-Colombia relationship into a new era. Colombia is an important country in Latin America and will take over the presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States this year. I attach great importance to the development of China-Colombia relations, and I am willing to work with Mr. President to promote China-Colombia strategic partnership to go deeper and deeper, and work together to build a community of destiny in China and Latin America.
Petro said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia, the development of bilateral relations has achieved fruitful results for the benefit of the two peoples. The two countries have exchanged frequent high-level visits, vigorously promoting cooperation in various fields between the two countries and facilitating people-to-people exchanges between the two sides. Since my inauguration as President, I have paid a state visit to China, and the relationship between the two countries has continued to strengthen, and trade and investment have continued to grow. We are willing to join hands with China to jointly promote global agendas of common interest, such as world peace, energy transition and combating climate change.
